Maryland Championship Wrestling returns to Joffa, MD tonight with Colt Cabana, Jake Roberts and the former Kelly Kelly all appearing at TagWars 2014. Roberts was interviewed yesterday by the CBS affiliate in Baltimore to discuss the show, his WWE Hall of Fame induction and his comeback from personal issues at this link. Matt Hardy released a promo promoting his 3/28 Northeast Wrestling bout against AJ Styles in Waterbury, CT at the PAL, which will be the first time they’ve met on the independent scene. The show will headline NEW’s Wrestlefest, which will also feature Jerry Lawler vs. Matt Taven, Vader, Sgt. Slaughter, Velvet Sky vs. Reby Sky, Mike Bennett vs. Caleb Konley and more:

Adam Pearce is making a new documentary "On My Honor" focusing on his time working for ROH as their booker. He began shooting this weekend.
New York Wrestling Connection will run their first event following their biggest show of the year Psycho Circus tonight at the NYWC Sportatorium in Deer Park, Long Island with NYWC champ Mike Mondo vs. King Mega, NYWC Tag Team champs Team Elite vs. Rack & Sack, and NYWC Starlet champ Marti Belle vs. Chrissy Rivera on top. Mikey Whipwreck will also be appearing. Unfortunately for the promotion, which sets its dates up far in advance, WWE is running the Nassau Coliseum on the same night, which is going to take a bite out of their gate for sure. AAW held EPIC: The 10 Year Anniversary last night in Berwyn, IL headlined by Colt Cabana and Jimmy Jacobs beating Eddie Kingston and Shane Hollister when Jacobs pinned Hollister. After the bout, there was an angle where Markus Crane and Dan Lawrence attacked Jacobs and Cabana, Gregory Iron and Christian Faith hit the ring for the save but Iron turned on Cabana and he and Jacobs were beaten by the trio and Hollister. Kingston had been run off by Silas Young during the match. The show was said to have been really good with a really fun Kyle O'Reilly vs. Arik Cannon match underneath that saw Kyle get the tapout with a cross armbreaker. AAW Tag Team champions Men of the Year (Michael Elgin & Ethan Page) defeated Irish Airborne. Silas Young defeated the returning Alex Shelley underneath as well.
John Thorne's Absolute Intense Wrestling began announcing competitors for their annual JT Lightning Memorial Tournament this May in Cleveland, Ohio. Set so far are Danny Havoc, Tim Donst, Ultramantis Black and Buff Bagwell. Yes, Buff Bagwell. One of these things is not like the others. The tourney will be the weekend of 5/23-5/24 at Turner's Hall.
Former Winnipeg area referee Bill “Rocky†Rockwell has been the subject of some media attention locally. Rockwell, who lost a leg to diabetes, has lost his benefits for two months and counting as he wasn’t able to obtain a letter from his doctor proving his disability because the doctor was away for several months. Canadian Wrestling Elite promoter Danny Warren is taking up donations to help Rockwell at danny@cwecanada.ca.
Speaking of CWE, they announced this past week that MediaCircus.TV is working on a documentary about the promotion and its day to day operations.
The first-ever in-ring meeting of Austin Aries and Ricochet has been added to the 3/29 IWF event in Phoenix, Arizona at the Celebrity Theater. I saw a DGUSA show once in that venue and the sightlines are great. The show will also feature a Scramble with Rich Swann vs. Ricochet vs. JT Dunn vs. AR Fox, Chris Masters vs. Chris Hero, Tyshaun Prince vs. Alkatrazz, The Young Bucks vs. Reno Scum, Carlito vs. Kevin Steen, a Lucha tag with Reaper & Mascara Dorada vs. Valiente & Ultimo Guerrero, former WWE Crime Time member Shad Gaspard vs. Brian Cage, Hurricane & TBA vs. Liberte and John Morrison vs. Shelton Benjamin. Benjamin is greatly involved with the running of the promotion.
The Bronx Wrestling Federation, which runs monthly events in the South Bronx, received some local exposure from FOX 5 in NYC, which you can check out at this link.
The Macclesfield Express in the UK featured a pretty funny story about a local fan, Phil Maher, who came across Sonjay Dutt and Jay Lethal in his local supermarket, so he invited them to have dinner with his family and they took him up on it. Maher said he realized they were on the road and wanted to offer them a good meal. They were overseas for the Revolution Pro Wrestling promotion, as we mentioned last week. Adam Flash and The Holy Rollers (longtime Maryland tag team) have been added to the 4/12 Primal Conflict Wrestling event in Harpers Ferry, WV. This is the show headlined by D’LO Brown vs. Bobby Shields.
Carlito, Savio Vega and Brutus Beefcake are booked for the 4/19 Coastal Championship Wrestling event at The Coral Springs Charter School in Coral Springs Florida. Former WWE (Babu) and ECW (El Puerto Ricano) talent Pablo Marquez and Lince Dorado are also appearing. They are also advertising War Lucha Libre del Ecuador wrestlers appearing. Marquez is from Ecuador and I know he’s been training talents from there who have been coming to the States for a few years, so that’s probably the connection. The show is a charity event for the school and as part of the local push, will have teachers who work for the school appearing in a Battle Royal. For more, visit CCWEvents.com.
In the latest announcement for the Champions of the Galaxy live event on 7/11 in Jamestown, NY as part of a convention celebrating the game, Chuck Taylor will portray “Evil Incarnate†Thantos. A Kickstarter campaign has been launched to support the event.
