WHAT CABLE NETWORK SHOULD WWE LAND ON, MORE BIG EVENTS ON THE NETWORK, WWC LIBRARY AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2014-03-15 09:00:00

I heard that Bobby Lashley accepted ECIII's challenge at Lockdown but I thought last year Lashley signed a two year contract with IGF? What's the situation?

It could be the IGF is only for bouts taking place in Japan. It could also be that the terms of the contract were not correct when they were publicly announced or that the contract was just a storyline thing and there was no actual contract.

George Barrios has indicated that WWE has struck a deal with a network (or possibly two) for Raw and Smackdown; however, will not indicate which network that is yet. If the deal is not with NBC (in my opinion, the best choice for WWE), who do you think WWE should have signed with? I believe the networks Barrios mentioned were FOX, Viacom (aka SpikeTV), AMC, and Time Warner. I see AMC as the second strongest choice because how much they have grown since the start of Breaking Bad (with Mad Men, the Walking Dead, and more). Thoughts on which one either one of you would choose?

To me, NBC Universal is their home and if it was up to me, I'd want to see WWE stay there for a little more money. It's always better to deal with the devil you know than the devil you don't. AMC seems attractive on the surface, but there have been a lot of stories about frustrations show producers have with the Network. I guess we'll see in a few months, but to me, NBC is where I'd want WWE to remain.

Do you ever see ROH going back on PPV?

If you mean regular, actual PPV, I think the day will come, yes, but I don't think it will be tomorrow. Down the line, however, Indemand and other PPV providers are going to be looking for new content to replace WWE events, so why wouldn't ROH be a frontrunner for that? They are the only company producing a semi-national TV show every week, so logically it could be an option. I'd like to think that at some point, it will happen, but I'm more interested in seeing them getting their iPPV issues resolved, just so they can make up some of the ground they lost a few years back. Hopefully one day, we'll see them accomplish both.

Do you think WWE will eventually add major AWA shows to their Vault on the Network?

If I am WWE, I would add a new promotion's major matches every six months, to provide more content for the value of the subscription of the Network. You can't give it all away at once, which is something I think a lot of fans don't understand. If they gave you everything on day one, you'd be awfully bored after a while.

With Carlos Colon going into the WWE Hall of Fame, do you think this means they are interested in acquiring the WWC library?

No one has told me that this is a 100% guaranteed fact, but the idea certainly does seem like it would fit the bill. I guess we will have to wait and see.
