With Batista coming back for the Royal Rumble surprised ruined I was thinking wouldn't it have made more sense anyway for WWE to advertise him returning at Royal Rumble? It probably would lead to a few more ppv buys?
The Royal Rumble is the one PPV I don't advocate announcing returns in advance. The match itself sells PPVs and fans have come to expect surprises during the match so I wouldn't have advertised Batista at all. Even with word of his return getting out, it happened on a slow weekend before Christmas. If I were WWE, I wouldn't let it change my plans.
Given how WWE has pushed smaller guys to the top in recent years (eg. Punk, Bryan), do you think that if AJ Styles signed that developmental contract years ago, he would have gotten a run at the top by now as well?
When you consider that Punk had to go into business for himself in 2011 to break the glass ceiling and Bryan has been yoyo'd for the past few months, I don't think that bodes well for AJ if he came in. It's not like Vince said "Let's push some small guys". Plus, AJ has a thick southern accent and Vince doesn't care for that.
If guys like AJ Styles and Samoa Joe never go to WWE, do you think they would end up regretting it and wondering what could have been? I have no doubt that they would be successful there, given the right push.
I don't think so. Both spoke with WWE at various times over their careers and never liked what they heard. If you don't like what you hear in the beginning stages of negotiation, odds are good that the other side doesn't see much value in you.
Please help settle this argument between my friend and myself. I say that Daniel Bryan is the hottest star in WWE. He claims that he is not on the data (merch sales, ratings, ppv buys). So if you go by the numbers, how does DB match up to being the hottest star in WWE right now?
He is up near the top but John Cena sells more than everyone. That is why Vince McMahon lives and dies with Cena on top.
With WWE having something big planned for Roman Reigns at this year's Rumble & for his future, can I expect him to break Undertaker's streak at WrestleMania XXX. If something is ever going to break the streak, then I think Reigns will be the perfect one as he is the future of WWE. Happy holidays to PWInsider team.
Magic 8 Ball says all signs point to no. I see big things in Reigns future, but rushing him into a match with the Undertaker is too much. And if he beat him and broke the streak, he could suffer from some serious fan backlash. With that said, I think Reigns has every chance to be a top guy if they handle him properly.
