The TNA title tournament will kick off at the next taping in Cincinnati, Ohio, featuring James Storm, Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Austin Aries, Bobby Roode, Magnus and Chris Sabin. The first round features:
Jeff Hardy vs. Chris Sabin: Full Metal Mayhem
Bobby Roode vs. James Storm
Kurt Angle vs. Austin Aries
Magnus vs. Samoa Joe
Bully Ray isn't in the tournament as the idea is to distance the company from anything that the previous regime was involved in and Aces & Eights was all Bischoff. Ray is obviously being programmed with Ken Anderson with the idea of building Anderson.
As far as AJ Styles, the current plan is that he doesn't return to TV for several months.
The creative team currently is Matt Conway and Dave Lagana with Jeff Jarrett and John "Big" Gaburick giving input into the process as well. Jarrett gained a lot of political power again over the last few weeks.
As we've noted in the Elite section of PWInsider.com, the "Action Never Ends" concept was something the company was working on in 2009 but when Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff came in, they shot the idea down and went in their own direction. We are told the original pitch back then was something Jarrett came up with.
No talk of Mickie James returning right now.
