8/24 WRESTLING IS FUN IN PALMER, PA LIVE REPORT: CHUCK TAYLOR, LOTS OF CHIKARA ALUMNI, PORTIA PEREZ & MORE

By Seth Abraham on 2013-08-25 08:09:06

Here are the results for the 8-24-13 Wrestling is Fun show at the Charles Chrin Community Center of Palmer.  The show was titled Cruel Summer.  Crowd was about 230-250 people for this IPPV.

Match 1-
Juan Francisco De Coronado w/ manservant Herbert  Vs. Shenron-Insane heat for Coronado.  Francisco started early working the arm, Shenron came back with a leaping front enziguri but was favoring the arm.  Match had some miscommunication on a headscissor spot  but then Shenron nailed an innovative slingshot back into the ring into a neckbreaker for a nearfall.  They did a dragon ball z/hadoken spot in the corner as well.  Shenron then got caught doing a front flip into the ropes and on the bounceback got caught with Coronado's high arching german suplex with a bridge for a 2 count.  Shenron was able to do the same front flip  but this time into an ace crusher for a nearfall.  Coronado was able to get the advantage and then went to ascend the turnbuckles but Herbert distracted him by giving him water.  Coronado batted it into the crowd and and then someone threw it back into the ring.   Not a great situation on either account.  Coronado got distracted enough for Shenron to get the advantage and lock on an innovative octopus like submission on the ground for the tap out victory.Solid opener that got better as it went.

Match 2-3.0 vs. Los Ice Creams-
The Ice Creams were trying to get fans to do the chunky monkey or the bushwacker hand thing at the start.  3.0 argued that clapping was better.  A lot of comedy with that at first.    Referee Bryce Remsberg did the Antonio Cesaro Machine gun arm thing to a pop.  This match was way too short to be honest.  Jagged of 3.0 hit a leg lariat and then tagged in Shane Mathews who nailed an atomic drop.  Eventually all four men got into it and 3.0 was able to hit the their Booyah double team elbow move for a nearfall.  3.0 then followed up with the sweet taste of professionalism for the victory.  Way too short for two very good and entertaining tag teams.

Match 3-Frightmare vs. Jaka w/Sydney Bakabella-
Frightmare was introduced as luchadorable...tons of kids at these shows so its good marketing.  Anyway Jaka used savagery and headbutts to ground Frightmare early.  Frightmare was able to come back with a crucifix driver and was able to come back.  Frightmare nailed Jaka with a top rope closeline.  Frightmare went for the friggin sweet driver (pumphandle michinoku driver variant) but Jaka countered.  Finish came when Bakabella hit Frightmare with an envelope of money (gold bars?)and Jaka was able to pick up the with a chokebomb.

Match 4-Colony (Green Ant/Assailant) vs. Azerbaijan and The Proletariat Boar of Moldova with the Brown Mourning of Belarus.

Green Ant started off with Azerbaijan and did some counter wrestling.  Eventually Boar came in and Assailant was tagged in.  Assailant started getting worked over but eventually got Green Ant in who was took out everybody.  The Colony hit an Ants marching double face buster on Azerbaijan and then Green Ant hit a crazy suicide dive on the Boar to a big pop.  Azerbaijan used the distraction of what went on outside to roll up Assailant.  After the match Colonel Hammersickle (I think that's his name) came out and gave flags to Brown Mourning, Boar and Azerbaijan.  They kneeled down and swore fealty.  Looks like they will be managed by him going forward.

Match 5-Dasher Hatfield vs. Mr. Touchdown Mark Angelosetti-
Storyline is these two are step cousins and Dasher is tired of his cousin's cheating ways.  Dasher hugged two fans (a dad in awesome Zubaz pants and taped arms and a younger kid with a Dasher mask) and seemed excited to see them in the front row...they would play a role later  Angelosetti tried to leave the ring but Dasher forced him back in.  Angelosetti roughed up Dasher with his combine body splashes and nailed Dasher with an exposed knee drop.  Dasher fought back  with a baseball slide and some power moves.  Touchdown hit his flea flicker Finisher for a nearfall.  The ref took a bump on a reversal of Dasher's Suicide Squeeze by Touchdown .  Mr. Touchdown got frustrated ad brought the ring bell into the ring.  The kid in the Dasher mask and the larger man got on the apron and told Touchdown to think about family.  Touchdown dropped the bell but then got rolled up by Dasher for the win.  Touchdown dissed Dasher at the end but then embraced the 3 family members as the crowd chanted "family".  We then had an intermission.

Match 6-The Batiri (Kobald, Kodama and Obariyon) vs. The Baltic Sege (Lithuanian Snow Troll, Estonian Thunderfrog and Latvian Proud Oak).

Unfortunately there was a bit of drama at the start as the Batiri threw a small chair and it bounced and hit an older woman in the front row (she was ok though) then Kobald grabbed a Yoshi stuffed animal backpack and jumped on it not realizing there was a GPS or some electronic device in it which broke.  My understanding is Kobald handled the situation (he's a good guy) after the match and everyone involved was very good about it.  Just sometimes things get carried away. Anyway, the match was a pretty crazy brawl with a lot of dives to the outside and double teaming.  At one point the Baltic Seige was trying to do the safety dance but the Batiri put a stop to the dance party before it began. One awesome spot was the entire batiri trying to lift thunderfrogs hammer and failing.  Frog came in and german suplexed all three of them at the same time in a tower of doom spot and the hammer but then the Hammer broke to a massive reaction!  Obviously not planned and the ring crew took the hammer's stick from ringside.  The Batiri were able to hit their drop toe hold knee double team but Proud Oak was able to nail Kodama with a strange joker driver slam and then Thunderfrog hit the Thunderfrog Splash for the 3 count.

After the Match Sicklemeier and his new faction gave flags to the Baltic siege.  Snow Troll wanted to swear fealty but was convinced not to by Thunderfrog and Proud Oak.  The Baltic Seige got beat down big time here.

Match 7-Portia Perez vs. Heidi Lovelace-

Lovelace has a great look and a lot of energy.  Perez's heel character is great, she just hates everyone.  Portia worked over Heidi's hair early on using a lot of hairpulls and stepping on Lovelace's hair.  Lovelace came back with a trip around the turnbuckles for Perez slamming her head into the turnbuckles ten times to loud chants.  Lovelace then used her hair to whip Perez for a near fall.  Lovelace eventually won by getting Perez dazed on her knees and nailing a Hurracanranna on Perez, the hurracanrana spiked Perez on her head like a ddt and she was out cold for the three count. Loved the match but WAY WAY too short.  Lovelace looked really good here.

Match 8-Devastation Corp (Ax Smashmaster  and Flex Rumblecrunch) w/Sidney Bakabella vs. The Spectral Envoy (Ultra Mantis Black and Hallowicker)-

Rumblecrunch inadvertently hit Smashmaster with his rope walk shouldertackle early on. During the match, Blaster Mcmassive came out (looks like he's recovered from his knee injury) Hallowicked hit a corner enziguri and then Mantis and Hallowicked nailed a ton of chops on Smashmaster.  Bakabella interfered and hit Hallowicked as he was ascending the turnbuckles with his envelope of money.  Hallowicked crashed to the outside and then Mantis got annihilated by the Death Blow Top Rope Splash for the three count.  After the Match Hallowicked got nailed with a Mcmassive chokeslam.  The bad guys left the ring eating pears...

Match 9-Battle for the Potassium-Oleg the Usurper with Sidney Bakabella vs. Amassis.

Amassis came out Dragon Dragon memorial t-shirt.  Dragon Dragon and Murderer chants early on against Oleg.  Oleg took Amassis from the ring and slammed him into a gym door early.  The story here was Oleg's power against Amassis speed.  Oleg chokeslammed Amassis on the apron.  Amassis struggled to his feet and continued to get brutalized by Oleg.  Oleg nailed a nasty closeline back in the ring but then wentto the outside after missing Amassis.  Amassis grazed Oleg with a dive to the outside but then began to pepper Oleg with kicks.  He was able to nail Oleg with several elbow smashes that floored the Viking.  Amassis then dedicated a move to dragon dragon  and hit a 450 on Oleg for the surprise three count.  Again good but a little short for a title match.

Notes-  Cary Silkin was in attendance and introduced and Eddie Kingston was walking around as well.  Next WIF will be in Reading on September 1st.... During intermission the 24/7 championship changed hands as Chuck Taylor defeated Jervis Cottonbelly for the belt.
