LOOKING AT WHAT LED TO THE FINAL DEMISE OF ECW, HOW CLOSE THEY WERE TO A DEAL WITH USA NETWORK, WHAT THE FUTURE WOULD HAVE BEEN FOR ECW & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2013-05-15 16:22:31
WWE has a very good article up looking at the end of ECW and how things would have changed for the company had it remained in existence. Paul Heyman discusses in great detail the potential deal the company had with the USA Network, talent that would have come in and how the "extreme" style would have changed. A slew of ECW originals including Tommy Dreamer, Steve Corino, Rhino and Joey Styles also discuss what could have been at this link.

In the article, Heyman noted that in the end, what prevented them from getting signed to the Network was that Barry Diller eventually decided that they didn't want to go from having the top wrestling franchise to number three in ECW. That decision was really the final nail in ECW's coffin.

The piece is absolutely worth checking out.
