WHY WWE CAN'T GIVE AWESOME MATCHES AWAY WEEKLY ON TV, KIDMAN, WRESTLEMANIA ON SHOWTIME AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2013-03-22 10:00:00
I vaguely remember Showtime airing the then WWF WrestleMania 2. Why was that the only WrestleMania that Showtime aired & how well did it do?

No idea how well it did, but Showtime acquired the rights to air it on a taped delay basis like HBO would air certain boxing events after they took place. I believe it's the only time WWF had sold the rights. Once PPV took hold a year later, there was no need.

I just watched Cena Punk again. And holy cow. This is the kind of WWE I love. This is one of the reasons I fell in love with pro wresting. . I know people will claim it's a throw away match on RAW. But, so what? There's 3 hours to fill.. Imagine if we had an awesome match like this week every week on RAW. Originally, I didn't even tune into RAW just because I felt like it was going to be the same old same old. Now I have a reason to watch again. I mean, I'm not saying give Punk and Cena 25 minutes to go every week, but, why can't every week we get a nice 20-25 minute matches from other talents that can go too. Let's say: Imagine Dolph Ziggler Vs Alberto Del Rio in a ladder match for the World Title. Or Antonio Cesaro Vs Chris Jericho for the U.S. Title. Guys who can go and provide good 20 minute matches. This concept works and would bring alot of old school fans back. What do you think?

I agree with you in theory but sadly, a lot of times, when promotions put on long wrestling matches, the ratings show that the audience changes the channel. Plus, the main goal of the TV show should be to promote the company's different revenue streams and while I love awesome matches as much as you do, they should want us to pay for them - not see them for free on cable.

I know its knda early to talk about nex years s WWE HOF. But is anyone else with me that next year we need to see Andy Kaufman be inducted? The man did more for pro wrestling than any celebrity in the HOF has ever done. Agree?

I am 100% in agreement and have written and talked about this for years. I don't believe it will happen but inducting him inside MSG would be so fitting. He was a regular there and truly loved the business.

I read a result of a taping for WWE's Main Event and it listed one of the matches as WWE Divas champion Kaitlyn vs Natalya Neidhart. Over the last few weeks I haven't seen it. Either I missed it or they haven't showed it yet. Has it already been broadcasted? By the way the other match featured Jack Swagger. Kaitlyn defeated Neidhart.

It didn't air.

Did former WCW star Billy Kidman ever wrestle for the WWF/WWE? The reason I ask is that I came upon on EBAY a WWF/WWE Billy Kidman Action Figure. I don't ever recall Kidman ever wrestling for them. Can you explain that?

You must have skipped that entire era of his career where WWF absorbed WCW and Kidman went to work for them. He was with WWF from 2001-2005 and then returned to the company as a producer and trainer for developmental, where he still works to this day.
