Serena Deeb joined the Women Of Wrestling Podcast at ringbellesonline.com to discuss her comeback after spending 18 months away from the ring due to a concussion:
“I've been going back and forth for so long. There were thoughts of coming back in the fall for the SHIMMER tapings then but I wasn't fully behind myself with that decision. Two weekends ago I went up and visited some really good friends who run the Pro Wrestling Syndicate show in New Jersey... I went up there, I practiced with them... it was just a direct in-your-face reminder that this is still my love and despite the distance that hasn't faded. It's still my passion.”
On why she made the decision to return at SHIMMER Volume 53 at WrestleCon in Secaucus, NJ on April 6:
“Everybody knows that I have a soft spot for SHIMMER – second to [Ohio Valley Wrestling], it's my home and it's been where I've always gone back to. I've always been welcomed back there very warmly and I so enjoy SHIMMER. I love it. My heart's there.”
We also touched on a number of other subjects, including her friend and protege Davina Rose signing a WWE developmental contract:
“I was one of the first people to find out and I had to keep it a secret for a long time... she totally deserves it... she's such a sweetheart both in and out of the ring.”
She also discussed her arrest last year, how it came about and its current status:
“It was a day of fun with some friends... it was a really bad timing situation. It's just humiliating.”
We also discuss how attending a show a couple of weeks ago helped convince her to get back in the ring, what she’s been up to for the last year and a half - including Yoga and DVD box-sets - how much she’s kept in contact with both the wrestling business and the people in it, and nail down whether this is a temporary or a permanent comeback.
