DETAILED CHIKARA 'UNDER THE HOOD' iPPV PREVIEW FOR THIS SUNDAY

By Joshua Higham on 2012-11-30 16:23:21

Chikara presents “Under the Hood” Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the Trocadero in Philadelphia, PA. Belltime is 4 pm.

Chikara returns to Philadelphia and internet pay-per-view for the final event of Season 11. All three titles will be defended, and as a bonus, a Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned. The locker room has been divided by the actions of Wink Vavasseur, the current Director of Fun, with Senior Referee Bryce Remsburg leading a campaign, “Anyone But Wink in 2013.”

Chikara Grand Championship:
Eddie Kingston vs. Tim Donst

The issues between Eddie Kingston and Tim Donst date all the way back to Donst’s first year in wrestling. (For proof, see Kingston destroy a young Donst here: http://youtu.be/lXNTBA-2X4U). Since losing his hair in June, the change in Donst (from egotistic to unhinged) culminated at Night 2 of King of Trios, when he attacked Eddie Kingston. Donst exclaimed that karma has been too good to a guy like Kingston, who recently celebrated his first anniversary as Chikara Grand Champion. The animosity came to a head at The Cibernetico Rises as Kingston and Donst brawled on the floor, leaving their partner Shane Matthews alone in the ring with Kevin Steen. Donst went on to pin Kingston moments later to win this year’s Cibernetico. The war has boiled over on Twitter and into other companies, like last weekend at AIW where Donst is currently reigning as Absolute Champion. Recent history has been in Donst’s favor: in addition to the win at Cibernetico, Donst has picked up two wins in atomicos action against Kingston in the last 18 months. This will be Kingston’s eighth defense as Grand Champion. For Kingston’s and Donst’s final words going into this match, check the last two Event Centers at youtube.com/chikaraoffice.

Young Lions Cup:
“Mr. Touchdown” Mark Angelosetti vs. ACH

The finalists of this year’s Young Lions Cup tournament will face off again. Angelosetti was victorious in Indianapolis in August after a hard-fought match that lasted over 25 minutes. Highlights of that match can be found on the Chikara Podcast-a-Go-Go (http://youtu.be/Wczrkxb3aw8). After the match in Indianapolis, ACH—Attitude Charisma Heart—promised to come back stronger, faster, and better than ever if he were to get another chance. When ACH made his challenge, he said that Mr. Touchdown does not respect the prestige of the Young Lions Cup. If Angelosetti wants to retain his Cup, he better be focused on his match, instead of the Mysterious and Handsome Stranger seeking revenge for the death of his feral pigeon Sapphire and his girlfriend Veronica’s quest to be Homecoming Queen. It will be Angelosetti’s second defense. Watch the hype video here: http://youtu.be/uO89tZXsY0I

Campeonatos de Parejas:
The Young Bucks vs. Marty Jannetty and 1-2-3 Kid

Marty Jannetty and the 1-2-3 Kid, former WWF Tag Team Champions, won their third point in Manhattan two weeks ago and will challenge the current campeones, The Young Bucks. The Bucks, who trained under Jannetty when they first started out, won the Campeonatos in Philadelphia in June at the last iPPV, defeating FIST. In a recent blog on the Chikara website (http://www.chikarapro.com/blog/11-22-2012.php), Matt Jackson praised Jannetty and Waltman for all they’ve done in the past for the Jacksons, but promised to “put an end to [their opponents’] legendary careers.” This will be the third defense for the Young Bucks. Chikara’s preview video detailing the Young Bucks’ reign can be found here: http://youtu.be/n24KRgeFQUM

The Spectral Envoy (Ultramantis Black, Hallowicked, Frightmare, Crossbones, and Blind Rage) vs. Delirious, Ophidian, and The Batiri

Delirious, freed from the powers of the Eye of Tyr, promised to make the next two years (the amount of time he was under the spell of the Eye of Tyr) of Ultramantis Black’s life a living hell. In the past few months, he has enlisted Ophidian, who feuded with Ultramantis in the first half of the year, to be his general and the Batiri, whose issues with Ultramantis date back to their introduction to Chikara, as his soldiers to aid in his war against the Ultramantis Black and the Spectral Envoy. They weren’t able to stop the Envoy from winning the King of Trios tournament, but were successful in blocking Mantis and Hallowicked from winning the Campeonatos de Parejas. During most Envoy matches, at least some member of Delirious’ army has been seen lurking around ringside, ready to interfere and wreak havoc. To even the numbers, the current King of Trios will be joined by Crossbones—Ultramantis Black’s ally from the Order of the NeoSolar Temple who has appeared in Chikara as recently as King of Trios, throwing Delirious from the stage—and Blind Rage—a former member of the Dark Breed who hasn’t wrestled in Chikara in more than six years. The saga of Delirious has recently been chronicled here: http://youtu.be/Q-w0rdpbdNc

Mike Quackenbush, Fire Ant, Green Ant, and assailANT vs. Jigsaw, The Shard, deviANT, and Soldier Ant

The roster has been divided since the invasion of the GEKIDO began back in February. The issues escalated as 17 began injuring competitors and the ants on the roster were rearranged into new versions of the Colony and the Swarm by Director of Fun Wink Vavasseur. Quackenbush has now taken out two members of GEKIDO, 17 and combatANT, alienating Jigsaw enough to join with The Shard. (For more on that, see http://youtu.be/beodN4qCkVU.) Wink’s odd ant combinations, however, remain intact. This will be Quack’s first opportunity to get his hands on his former protege, Jigsaw, who superkicked him in New York City. It will be a chance for Fire Ant to get his hands on The Shard, who wouldn’t release the ankle lock, attempting to reinjure the knee that was targeted at Chikarasaurus Rex in June. And lastly, it will be the first time thus far that assailANT, who has been trying to make the best of his new partners, will have to face off with his GEKIDO brethren.

3.0 (Shane Matthews and Scott Parker) vs FIST (Johnny Gargano and Chuck Taylor)

Both these teams gained their two points during last month’s trip through the Midwest. Both these teams held the Campeonatos de Parejas within the past year. 3.0 finally reached the promised land in March, defeating Taylor and Icarus (who substituted for the injured Gargano). Taylor and Gargano, finally healthy enough to compete, regained the Campeonatos a month later, before losing to the current Campeones, the Young Bucks, in June. Gargano (in a post at http://www.chikarapro.com/blog/11-20-2012.php) called 3.0 the “biggest choke artists in Chikara history” and that their title win in March was a fluke. Parker has been nursing injured ribs almost all year, and they were focused on for extended amounts of time during the Cibernetico two weeks ago. Whoever wins this match will be the next to challenge for the Campeonatos de Parejas. Whoever loses goes to the back of the line. Chikara released this hype video: http://youtu.be/9SfdeCUsZ5Y

Dasher Hatfield vs. Icarus

For the third time in 15 days, Dasher Hatfield and Icarus will square off one on one. Hatfield picked up the win in both of the previous matches at Wrestling is Fun’s Bananaversary and The Cibernetico Rises the following afternoon, but was laid out by a pedigree from Icarus after both matches. Hatfield got the wins, but Icarus made a statement. Now, Hatfield wants revenge, but Icarus needs that win.
