RING OF HONOR TELEVISION REPORT: SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST CONTINUES; AN ROH ACADEMY TRAINEE FINALLY GETS HIS SHOT AT GOLD; RD EVANS SHOWS HIS TRUE COLORS; AND MORE

This week’s show starts off with highlights from the first Survival of the Fittest matches between Adam Cole and Tadarius Thomas. Adam Cole advanced to the six man elimination match. Which two men will join Adam tonight?

We are live on tape from Baltimore, Maryland and your announcers are Kevin Kelly and Nigel McGuinness.

Match Number One: Davey Richards versus Mike Bennett (with Maria Kanellis and Bob Evans) in a Survival of the Fittest Match

Bennett charges at Richards and Davey with a round kick and a near fall with a rollup. Davey follows up the quick near fall with a running forearm into the corner and a series of kicks to the chest and shoulder. Davey with more kicks and the referee warns him. Davey with an Irish whip and a running forearm followed by a clothesline for a near fall. Davey with the ankle lock but Bennett gets to the ropes and Bennett goes to the floor.

Richards sets for the running kick from the apron but Bennett pulls Maria in front of him. Bennett gets Richards to chase him around the ring and Evans connects with a punch that the referee does not see. Bennett sends Richards into the apron and then he punches Richards. Bennett with more punches but Richards with kicks to Bennett. Richards Irish whips Bennett into the guardrail and Richards with a Yakuza kick.

They return to the ring and Richards takes Bennett to the mat and Richards rolls into an Indian Death Lock and he brings a sexy party to the Duburns Arena before dropping back to add pressure to the knees. Richards does it again but Bennett is able to get to the ropes one more time. Bennett with a back elbow and Richards rolls to the floor.

Bennett follows and he limps to Richards and connects with a head butt and chops. Richards tries to send Bennett into the ring post and Bennett avoids contact. Richards charges at Bennett and Bennett connects with a spinebuster into the apron.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Richards gets a near fall with an inside cradle but Bennett responds with a clothesline and he gets a near fall. Bennett with a rear chin lock but Richards with a jaw breaker. Richards and Bennett exchange forearms until Davey gets the advantage. Bennett with a super kick but Richards is able to kick out.

Bennett with a suplex and he gets a near fall. Bennett stretches Davey and has his knee in Davey’s back. Richards gets to the ropes and Bennett releases the hold. Bennett kicks Davey in the chest and follows with a forearm. Davey with forearms and kicks. Bennett with a rake of the eyes. Richards clotheslines Bennett over the top rope to the floor and then he hits a suicide dive onto Bennett.

Richards goes up top and hits a missile drop kick. Richards runs into a boot from Bennett. Richards with a back heel kick followed by slaps and an enzuigiri for a near fall. Bennett rolls to the apron and Richards follows. Richards sets for a suplex on the apron but Bennett holds on to the ropes. Richards with kicks to the chest but Richards kicks the ring post. Bennett with a spear off the apron.

Bennett gets a near fall and Bennett goes to the injured ankle for an ankle lock. Richards rolls through for a near fall. Bennett gets Richards on his shoulders but Richards gets to his feet and he tries for an O’Connor Roll but Evans holds on to Bennett. Richards hits an Exploder suplex on Bennett and then he kicks Evans from the apron and he goes up top and hits a missile drop kick for a near fall.

Richards with an ankle lock but Bennett rolls through and sends Richards into the ropes and Maria slaps Davey.

From out of nowhere, Mike Mondo comes out and he kisses Maria. Bennett forgets that he is trying to win a match and he goes after Mondo, who celebrates as if he won the World Series after kissing Maria. Bennett chases Mondo around the ring and then he starts limping. Richards hits the Alarm Clock when Bennett returns to the ring and then he hits a sliding kick to the head and he gets the three count.

Winner: Davey Richards

(Richards joins Adam Cole in the finals of Survival of the Fittest)

We are back and we take a look back to Tommaso Ciampa’s injury that he suffered at Boiling Point. Will Ciampa be able to wrestle in his Survival of the Fittest match tonight?

Tommaso Ciampa and RD Evans make their way to the ring. Ciampa is on crutches but is it simply a ruse to get Jay Lethal overconfident that he is facing an injured man?

Evans gets on the mic and the fans chant for Ciampa. Evans introduces himself and he says that everyone knows who he is. He says something else that everyone knows. It is no secret that Tommaso Ciampa suffered a torn ACL and meniscus at Boiling Point. Yet, in spite of that injury that would cripple any other man, he told ROH officials to hold Ciampa’s spot in the Survival of the Fittest Tournament.

Evans says that he gave his word that his client will compete tonight. Tommaso Ciampa, despite this injury, took Jay Lethal to the limit in a two out of three falls match. Ciampa wrestled through what would have put any other man down. He proved that he is a warrior, a champion, a gladiator, a thoroughbred. You know what you do with a thoroughbred when he breaks its leg. You shoot it.

Evans gave his word that his client would compete tonight. Evans introduces his new client, QT Marshall. Ciampa looks like he is going to hit Project Ciampa on Evans but he sees Marshall walking to the ring. Ciampa turns his back on Evans and that is not a good thing because Evans hits Ciampa from behind in his injured knee.

Marshall comes into the ring and he kicks Ciampa and hits him in the knee with the crutch. While Marshall continues to stand over Ciampa and potentially attack him, we cut to the crowd to see a sign.

Officials make their way to the ring to get between Marshall and Ciampa.

Match Number Two: QT Marshall (with RD Evans) versus Jay Lethal in a Survival of the Fittest Match

Lethal offers his hand and he almost gets Marshall to fall into his trap. The bell rings and Lethal with a super kick and a springboard drop kick and a suicide dive that sends Marshall into the guardrails. Lethal chops Marshall and punches him. Marshall sends Lethal back into the ring.

Lethal with a double sledge to the back followed by a chop. Marshall with chops and forearms. Lethal with chops and Irish whip followed by a back body drop. Lethal gets a near fall. Lethal with a hip toss and cartwheel into a drop kick for a near fall. Lethal with a kick and back heel kick. Lethal stomps on Evans hand and then he sends Marshall to the floor when QT tries to sneak up behind Lethal.

Lethal runs into a power slam and Marshall gets a near fall. Marshall runs his boot laces across Lethal’s face. Marshall kicks Lethal in the chest and chokes him. Evans chokes Lethal while the referee talks to Marshall. Marshall with a slam and elbow drops. Marshall walks across Lethal’s chest.

Lethal with forearms and punches but Marshall with a kick. Lethal with an Irish whip and he connects with a diving shoulder tackle into the corner. Lethal goes for a diving shoulder tackle in the other corner, but Marshall moves and Lethal hits the turnbuckles. Marshall uses the ropes for extra leverage on the cover but the referee sees it. Marshall with a belly-to-back suplex for a near fall.

Marshall slaps Lethal in the head and Jay with chops and punches. Lethal with more chops and punches but Marshall with a boot. Lethal with a springboard cross body followed by clotheslines. Lethal with a handspring back elbow and then he sets for the Lethal Injection but Marshall with a waist lock. Marshall sends Lethal into the air and Lethal lands on his chest. Marshall with a clothesline for a near fall.

Lethal with a super kick followed by the Lethal Combination. Lethal pulls Marshall towards the corner for the elbow drop. Evans gets on the apron and Lethal goes after him but Evans gets to the floor before Jay can do anything to him. Marshall attacks Lethal from behind.

From out of nowhere, Prince Nana comes out and he attacks Evans. Marshall sets for a power bomb but he sees Nana attacking Evans so he releases the hold and a chance to win the match. Nana sends Evans into the guardrails.

Officials take care of Nana. Lethal with a handspring into Lethal Injection for the three count.

Winner: Jay Lethal

We are back and it is time to go Inside Ring of Honor. Remember that Glory By Honor . . . The Unbreakable Hope is on Saturday night.

Kevin brings up the challenge that Rhett Titus made to Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin on television and the return of BJ Whitmer to join Titus against Haas and Benjamin.

After Whitmer and Titus got the win, Whitmer was attacked by Haas and Benjamin and they made sure that Whitmer knew the ring post.

Rhett faces Kevin Steen tonight and we go to comments. He says that this is his first shot at the Ring of Honor World Title. He has wanted this shot since he started going to Ring of Honor shows. He says that Steen is looking past him, but he will be the one to surprise Steen and win the Ring of Honor World Title.

We go to last week’s confrontation between Kevin Steen and Michael Elgin in the ring and is the House of Truth having some structural problems?

The problems may get worse when Rhino faces Michael Elgin in one of the Survival of the Fittest matches next week.

Truth Martini says that at Survival of the Fittest’s blind draw puts Rhino against Michael Elgin. Martini claims that even a blind man can see the plot against the House of Truth.

Elgin says that all of this talk about Truth, but broken promises lead the way.

Martini says that the House is a family so he asks Rhino or Elgin to do the right thing and step aside so the other can advance.

Rhino says that he was paid a lot of money to take people out. There is not enough money to pay him to roll over and play dead or back out from a fight.

Elgin says that for two years it has been ‘Roddy this’ and Roddy that’.

Strong says that Elgin was pretty good when he was carrying his bag. Strong says that Elgin’s head is getting almost as big as his balls.

Truth says each according to his abilities and each according to their needs.

Rhino says that he never backs down from any man.

Elgin says that it is not about Roderick, it is about him.

Strong says that he will teach Elgin his place.

Elgin says that he will tear down the House of Truth if it continues to be built around Roderick instead of him.

Truth says that he is confident that everything will come out just fine.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Steve Corino has joined Nigel and Kevin in his capacity as the official announcer for Kevin Steen.

Kevin mentions some legal issues for the World Champion. Corino reads a letter that states that due to his actions in Providence and the potential lawsuit that was filed. A restraining order has been issued to prevent Steen from being within 100 yards of the Sinclair Affiliates Dinner. If Steen attempts to attend this event, he will be subject to arrest.

Match Number Three: Rhett Titus (with BJ Whitmer versus Kevin Steen (with Jimmy Jacobs) for the Ring of Honor World Title

Titus attacks Steen at the entrance ramp and he punches Steen. Steen with forearms and then Titus Irish whips Steen into the guardrails. Titus with another Irish whip into the guardrails. Titus sends Steen into the ring and the match officially starts.

Titus with a knee and forearm to the back but Steen with a double leg take down and he kicks Titus. Steen with a short arm clothesline followed by a chop. Titus with a chop but Steen with a rake of the eyes. Steen with a forearm but Titus with a drop kick and Steen goes to the floor. Steen moves out of the way when Titus tries for a suicide dive to the floor. Titus with a flip dive onto Steen and Jacobs after Whitmer gets them into position.

Titus sends Steen back into the ring and then he hits a leap frog Fameasser for a near fall. Steen gets Titus on his shoulders but Titus escapes. Steen sends Titus to the apron and Titus with a shoulder but Steen with a knee and a DDT in the ropes and Jacobs celebrates on the apron while Steen gets a near fall.

Steen goes up top but Titus stops Steen and he sets for a rana but Steen gets to the mat and he crotches Titus before putting him in the tree of woe and Steen with a cannonball. Steen kicks Titus but Titus gets back to his feet and he kicks Steen and hits a clothesline. Titus with a running drop kick into the corner and he gets a near fall.

Steen rolls to the apron and Titus kicks him. Steen pulls Titus to the floor and he tries for a power bomb but Titus with punches to escapes. Titus punches Jacobs when he tries to interfere. Steen gives Titus a power bomb into the apron when Titus charges at him. Steen gets a two count when they return to the ring.

Steen goes up top for a moonsault but Titus moves and both men are down. Titus gets back to his feet first and he goes up top. Jacobs pulls out the spike and Whitmer punches Jacobs. The referee focuses on Jacobs and Whitmer and Titus picks up the spike.

The referee blocks the uses of the spike. Steen with a superkick and then he hits F-Cinq for the three count.

Winner: Kevin Steen

After the match, Steen plants a wet one on the referee for the assist.
