Chikara presents “The Zodiac Crimes” Sunday October 7, 2012 at the New MidAtlantic Sportatorium in Gibsonville, NC. Belltime is 4 pm.
The Spectral Envoy vs. Obariyon, Kodama, and Ophidian
The reigning King of Trios will team up to take on three of the men who tried to stop their King of Trios triumph last month. The Envoy defeated the Batiri in the second round with Ophidian prowling around ringside. Then, in the final match, the Batiri, Ophidian, and Delirious came to try to interfere before the odds were evened by Envoy ally Crossbones. On Sunday, Ophidian, Obariyon, and Kodama will attempt again to follow up on Delirious’ proclamation to make Ultramantis Black’s life hell until 2014.
Mike Quackenbush vs. The Shard
Mike Quackenbush has been on a warpath against GEKIDO members since returning at Chikarasaurus Rex. He took out 17 with all four Quackendrivers and put combatANT on the shelf at King of Trios. The Shard has to be careful in this match, since Quack’s M.O. recently hasn’t been to go for the win, but to injure. An angry Quackenbush will be very dangerous for the Shard.
Saturyne vs. Amber O’Neal
Amber O’Neal, the veteran of Shimmer, ArenaChicks, and WSU, will make her first Chikara appearance in almost ten years to take on the rookie luchadora. Saturyne does not have the most stellar win-loss record in the first year of her career, but she has been impressive, going up against some top members of the Chikara roster. Her speed and agility will be met with O’Neal’s crafty and cunning style. O’Neal may also have a bit of a home field advantage, being from North Carolina.
The Bravado Brothers vs. The Throwbacks
The Bravado Brothers racked up two points in a four-way elimination match in August, so they are a win away from challenging the Young Bucks for the Campeonatos de Parejas. In their way to the title shot is the last team to challenge for the Campeonatos, The Throwbacks. The reigning Young Lions Cup champion and his step-cousin-in-law have a point from their win over FIST at the Baseballtown benefit event in August. The Bravados will try to use their home field advantage to gain support from the crowd, while the Throwbacks will almost assuredly have Veronica with them at ringside. Her shenanigans are always possible, even if unwelcome by Dasher Hatfield.
Gran Akuma vs. Kobald
Gran Akuma is back in singles action in this weekend’s southern adventure, with his trios mates elsewhere. His opponent is the goblin from the Batiri, Kobald. The Akuma/3.0 trio, referred by some as Booyakuma, faced off with the Batiri twice in the past few months. Booyakuma won the first match when Ophidian and Delirious made their presence felt in Massachusetts. But the Batiri won their meeting in the first round of King of Trios when Gran Akuma fell to Kobald’s Demon Toilet. Akuma is surely looking for a bit of revenge for that loss.
The Colony (Fire Ant, Soldier Ant, and assailANT) vs. FIST (Icarus, Chuck Taylor, and Sugar Dunkerton)
FIST vs. The Colony is one of the premiere and longest-running feuds in Chikara history. This battle, however, has a bit of a twist to it, due to the new members on both teams. Soldier Ant is replaced with assailANT for the Colony, and Johnny Gargano is replaced with Sugar Dunkerton in FIST. assailANT and Sugar Dunkerton haven’t quite assimilated with their new teammates. Icarus and Taylor have been pretty openly hostile to the addition of Dunkerton to their group.
Soldier Ant and deviANT vs. Tim Donst and Jakob Hammermeier
Just like the night before, Tim Donst and Jakob Hammermeier will have to put their growing differences aside to take on a team who do not want to team together. Soldier Ant and deviANT do not like each other, but they are the last two remaining of Wink Vavasseur’s reorganized Swarm. The winners of this match will be the team who sabotages his partner less than the other team.
The Handsome and Mysterious Stranger has an open contract
The Handsome and Mysterious Stranger—who will be accompanied by his feral pigeon, Sapphire—heads to NWA country with an open contract for anyone to take him on. He is looking for the “toughest son-of-a-gun.” He promises to come out the victor, no matter if his opponent’s name is Killer or Bruiser.
For tickets, go to the door before showtime. General admission tickets are $20. And remember, kids under 12 are free with a paying adult.
