BY THE NUMBERS: LOOKING BACK AT THE WEEK IN WRESTLING ON TELEVISION FROM ROH, TNA, AND WWE

By Richard Trionfo on 2012-08-14 00:07:11
After a record tying week, the totals for this week were likely to drop. Even though two of the shows had increases while one show stayed at the same level as last week, there was a drop of twenty-one minutes because Smackdown fell by fourteen minutes and Impact dropped by seven minutes.

After the expected low wrestling total for Raw 1000, the last two weeks saw Raw over forty minutes. After five of seven weeks with more than thirty minutes of wrestling, Smackdown dropped back into the teens.

After a week with nine matches over ten minutes, the totals fell below the average this week with only two matches of more than ten minutes. I can only imagine how people will react when they see that John Cena was in the longest match of the week. It took until the thirtieth match of the week to get the second ten minute match of the week.

We only had two matches of one minute, but the first one that took place established an important milestone. Smackdown had their one hundredth one minute match, joining Raw as the only show to be in triple digits. Almost three quarters of the matches that fall into this category have come from Raw or Smackdown. Impact is a distant third with forty-six matches. The other one minute match came from Ring of Honor and they now have hit the dozen mark.

A few thresholds were passed this week. NXT passed the nineteen hundred minute mark as they continue the march to two thousand. Superstars passed twenty-six hundred minutes this week. Impact passed thirty-three hundred minutes this week. Next week, we will see the seventeen thousand minute barrier passed. We passed the thirty-two hundred match barrier this week.

The wrestling times below cover the wrestling that takes place during the show so commercials are not included. All times are rounded to the closest minute (examples: a 4:23 match will be listed as 4 minutes while a 4:32 match will be listed as 5 minutes and anything under a minute is rounded up to a minute).
