CM PUNK FILMING COMMERCIAL THIS WEEK, INJURED STAR BACK IN ACTION, WWE'S NEW SERIES GETTING A LOT OF ATTENTION, NXT, SABU AND MORE

WWE champion CM Punk filmed a commercial for Combos this week. He discussed the commercial during an Laurence Holmes radio show in Chicago, Illinois, which you can listen to at this link. He noted that he doesn't have anything against UFC star Jon Jones and commented, "You've got to love Twitter." He said that he can't help himself but to speak his mind. Punk also discussed what it meant to him to carry the WWE title, his breakthrough promo, working heel vs. babyface (he's more comfortable as a heel) and a lot more. Punk came off very likeable here. Punk and Eve Torres also recently filmed a cooking TV series appearance, although I'm not exactly sure what the series was as of this writing.

Trent Baretta, who had been out of action after ankle surgery, returned to the ring at last night's WWE NXT taping in Florida.

The WWE developmental live events in Florida are now being promoted as NXT events. They are running on 8/11 in Live Oak, FL at Suwannee County Coliseum this weekend.

Billy Gunn was at last night's NXT taping. There's a lot of talk of him coming in to work in the system.

The Miz and Maryse were at last night's MDA "Show of Strength" taping in Los Angeles. The three hour primetime special will air on 9/2 as part of the Labor Day weekend Muscular Dystrophy Association charity drive. For more, click here.

The new WWE Saturday Morning Slam series has gotten a TON of press since it's being touted (sorry, sorry) as a new children's series.

WWE added former ECW World champion Sabu to their Alumni section of WWE.com this week.

The WWE Smackdown house show on September 29th, 2012 will be held at the Taylor County Coliseum in Abilene, Texas. Bell time is 7:30 PM. Thanks to Devin Cutting.

In the "small world" department, Jim Ross ran into Sting on the way to Orlando this week and then ran into Jeff Hardy this morning on the way home.

This one made me chuckle. Curt Hawkins wrote on Twitter, "TSA agent just asked me what's wrong with @Ryback22 's eye. I wish I knew Sir... I wish I knew."

WWE has released a new Shawn Michaels t-shirt.
