FULL DESTINATION X BLOG

By Dave Scherer on 2012-07-08 20:12:52
The build for this show hooked me so I figured why not do a live blog.  The Austin Aries-Bobby Roode program has been great so lets get to it.  It's 16 minutes after and I am starting this sucker now.

Taz isn't here so Jeremy Borash gets to work the booth.  Good for him.  There aren't many people in the business that work as hard as he does.

We have what some in sports call the "losers bracket" to start the show. This match has the guys that lost qualifiying matches for the X Division match. It will have Rubix, Mason Andrews, Lars Only and Dakota Darsow competing for a spot in the match. For those of you who don't watch Impact, Andrews and Rubix had the better first matches but Darsow got potatoed badly by Flip Kendrick this past week so I think he deserves to get in for not killing Kendrick when Flip landed on his already busted up face. ... Mike Tenay just said that Darsow's dad was probably most famous for being part of Demolition. Like what, Repo Man of Krusher Krusctchev could beat that? ... Early on they are going 100 miles an hour, which makes sense given they are X guys and also that you need to win to stay alive. ... They showed Kid Kash watching in the back. I like that they are playing up the importance of this. ... Bad joke time, if Rubix was a triplet, would he be Rubix Cubed? ... They hit a bunch of big spots early and now it's "we need to generate some energy" time. ... Andrews is looking stiff. Truth be told, he probably should be the guy to get in. ... Then Rubix hit a sick dropkick and showed that maybe he deserves it. The crowd is totally in his corner. ... Andrews just laid out Lars Only so he is in. The match had lots of action to it and was fine for what it was. ... Kash just came down to talk on Andrews and starts the match by laying out the tired Andrews.

Kash vs. Mason Andrews time. ... It is slow early on with Kash largely in control. It makes sense since Andrews just worked a match. ... First big spot came when Andrews got the knees up when Kash came off of the top. Andrews is coming match but missed a missile dropkick. He followed with a nice running knee. Now we are in competitive mode and Kash f'd up and got rolled up. Mason Andrews is in Ultimate X.

Christy Hemme is backstage with Samoa Joe. She asks him who thinks will win the Roode-Aries match. Joe says "the guy that beat me, Aries". I wish he would have said, "Why would I give a s***, whoever wins will lose to me." Anyway, he did say that he sees his road to the TNA Title through the tournament, so Kurt will go down. Kurt is not a gold medalist, he is 10 points. Good promo for Joe.

Destination X two, Douglas Williams vs. Kenny King. ... Since King is billed from Vegas, my wife is rooting for him. Works for me. ... King is in control early so Williams suckers him into a handshake and King fell for it. Maybe I should question his side of the ROH contract deal after that. I kid Kenny King. ... The crowd is behind King. ... They are working well but they can only do so much with more work to come for one of them. ... The crowd, overall, is sitting there watching. That is definitely the problem with always running the Impact Zone. ... Wow, King was thrown to the floor and Williams hit a knee from the top and much of the crowd barely reacted. WTF? ... King gets a two with a springboard neckbreaker. Nice spot. ... Williams tries to use the ropes but the ref says nope. ... Williams gets the pin with his finisher. Solid match but it seemed a little forced in spots. King moves on and honestly I like seeing the young blood get in the match.

Christy gets to interview Daniels. He is pissed at AJ and thinks his former partner is boning the boss and crack whores. Who knows, maybe he never invited Daniels to share. Some guys are tight with their stuff.

Sanjay Dutt takes on Rashard Cameron in X Division qualifier number three. Cameron is from Philly. How can I root against him? ... Early on the work is good and Cameron his a big somersault plancha over the top. Very cool. ... Dutt came back with a big drop kick through the ropes and was going for a Asai Moonsault when Cameron stopped him. ... Nice flurry of spots from Sonjay gets a near fall. Man I wish the crowd was more vocal because this is good. ... Sonjay wins with his sick somersault stomp from the top. SICK! ... Best match so far.

They showed Jesse Sorenson's broken neck spot. That was fugly. ... They bring us up to date on how he has done since. ... Back to the ring, Christy has us welcome Jesse back. He has on the neckbrace. Could it be the reincarnation of the Shane Douglas-Pitbull Gary Wolfe angle? ... Jesse's mom and girlfriend are at ringside. Jesse gets a decent welcome back chant when he gets in the ring. He took the mic and the first thing he mentioned was Dixie Carter, who asked if he was nervous. He said it feels good to feel anything. He talked about being hurt and being in ICU and wondering if he would ever walk again. A fan yelled "We love you" and he got a nice pop. Jesse said that the last thing he remembered before leaving the arena was when he heard the people chanting his name. They chanted it again. He said that God put him on earth to be a professional wrestler and that is what he will do. He is a better man than me. The fans agreed because they chanted Thank You Jesse. Jesse said no, from the bottom of his heart, than you. He told Zema Ion that he didn't forget him. He hopes he wins the X Division Title tonight because he will be coming back to take that title from him. He said he will be the X Division at next year's Destination X and he will cash in the Title next year and win the TNA Title. Good for him. He has been through a lot. ... As he is leaving the ring, Ion comes out. Ion mocked him on his way into the ring. Ion will be taking on Spud Boy Flip Casanova in the final Ultimate X match.
