BY THE NUMBERS: LOOKING BACK AT THE WEEK IN WRESTLING FROM WWE AND TNA

By Richard Trionfo on 2012-07-07 19:24:38
For the second week in a row, we have a week without any ‘television’ matches from Ring of Honor. We should return to normal with the full complement of six shows. For the second week in a row, the total amount of wrestling dropped, this time by ten minutes thanks to a twelve minute drop from Smackdown sending the show from first last week to last this week. Impact dropped by five minutes but stayed in second place.

Raw returned to the top of the ladder this week but with the lowest total since mid April when Impact ruled the roost with an anemic twenty-to minutes of wrestling. Every show was able to stay over twenty minutes.

There were three matches of more than ten minutes this week as well as three one minute matches so the gap between those two totals remains at one hundred five. Raw, Superstars, and Impact had the ten minute matches while Raw had two of the one minute matches and Smackdown had the other one.

It would appear that we are seeing the start of a new trend from NXT with the most matches on a given show.

Raw passed the thirty-two hundred minute barrier this week while Smackdown passed thirty-four hundred minutes. NXT passed eighteen hundred minutes as they try to join everyone else above the magical two thousand minute barrier. It is almost guaranteed that Superstars will pass twenty-five hundred minutes since they fell three minutes short after this week.

Next week, Smackdown will join Raw with more than seven hundred matches.

There are only two more weeks until Raw goes three hours and we get a tenth hour of wrestling, assuming every show airs.

The time for the Chris Jericho and Daniel Bryan versus John Cena and CM Punk went from the bell until AJ set up the table and started up the ring steps.

The participants in the Smackdown General Manager for a Day Battle Royal were: Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater, Jack Swagger, Zack Ryder, Cody Rhodes, Tensai, Brodus Clay, Dolph Ziggler, Damien Sandow, R Truth, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, John Cena, Kane, Big Show, Alberto Del Rio, Ezekiel Jackson, Kofi Kingston, Great Khali, and Christian.

The wrestling times below cover the wrestling that takes place during the show so commercials are not included. All times are rounded to the closest minute (examples: a 4:23 match will be listed as 4 minutes while a 4:32 match will be listed as 5 minutes and anything under a minute is rounded up to a minute).
