BY THE NUMBERS: LOOKING BACK AT THE WEEK IN WRESTLING FROM WWE AND TNA (AND A LOOK AT JUNE'S TOTALS)

By Richard Trionfo on 2012-07-03 01:49:05
The first half of 2012 ends conveniently at the end of a week so it makes things easier for me to provide a look back at how the last six months have affected the one hundred twenty-three weeks that I have been keeping track of the lengths of wrestling matches on television from WWE, TNA, and ROH.

This week, there was no Ring of Honor for the purpose of this column since the matches came from a house show and not a specific television taping.

Smackdown won for a second straight week with its second consecutive week with more than thirty minutes of wrestling. Impact finished second for the third straight week and cut the overall gap by another five minutes over third place Raw. Superstars moved up to fourth because we did not have Ring of Honor. NXT brought up the rear again but finished at twenty minutes.

Without Ring of Honor this week, we only saw a twelve minute drop from last week because every show but Raw had more wrestling than last week. With one less show, we had two more matches than last week because three of the shows from WWE had seven matches, including NXT.

NXT’s seven matches was the most in almost five months when we had five matches (an amount tied in week 96). It is not too often that you see a sixty minute show (or forty-five when you consider the commercials taken out) that has that many matches. Maybe that is why the average match was less than three minutes.

Smackdown had the only match that was longer than ten minutes this week and for the first time in six weeks, there was not a one minute match on Friday night.

We broke the sixteen thousand minute barrier during Impact in the main event. Impact broke thrity-one hundred minutes this week while Raw should break thirty-two hundred minutes, NXT might be able to pass eighteen hundred minutes, and Smackdown will pass thirty-four hundred minutes.

The time for the Alberto Del Rio versus Dolph Ziggler match on Raw is from the start of the match until Sheamus’ music plays.

The wrestling times below cover the wrestling that takes place during the show so commercials are not included. All times are rounded to the closest minute (examples: a 4:23 match will be listed as 4 minutes while a 4:32 match will be listed as 5 minutes and anything under a minute is rounded up to a minute).
