GARETT BISCHOFF'S TNA PUSH, WHY WWE WILL REMAIN PG, THE FUTURE OF NXT AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2012-05-04 10:00:00
This week on NXT (18/04) Darren Young and Titus O'Neill were told they're being moved to SmackDown, Hawkins and Reks were fired, and there was no mention at all of Tyson Kidd or Michael McGillicutty after last week's great match. With all the talent that looks like to be leaving the show, is this an early sign WWE is ending the mega-phenomenon A show that is NXT? Or will we be treated to weekly 60 minute time limit draws between Kaitlyn and Maxine?

NXT will continue.  They are bringing up a new crop of talents for it shortly.

Stupendous job as always with the awesome audio and top notch news.  I had a question regarding the World Heavyweight Championship, some jackass smart mark commented on Facebook that the World Heavyweight Championship was a reactivation of the WCW World Title.  It has been documented on several occasions by the WWE and other pro wrestling historians that the WHC is not a continuation of the WCW Title, rather its successor, much like the WCW Title was a successor to the NWA World Heavyweight Title.  I'm 95% sure this is the case, but I wanted
to confer with the creme of the crop of professional wrestling news websites .  So what is the official lineage of the World Heavyweight Championship?

The belt is not the WCW World title, although some like to pretend it is.  It's not even the old WCW World title belt, although the design is vastly similar.

First of all, I love your site. Read it every day. I read where there was an incident at Extreme Rules that was spawned when John Cena decided to deviate from the planned finsish to the PPV where he was to be stretchered out and instead cut a promo. Effectively "no-selling" the beating he had just received from Lesnar. If anyone else had done this they would have been suspended or fired. But Cena is rewarded with being involved in the closing segments of RAW the next night. What do you make of all this? Was Cena going into business for himself and screwing Brock? Why was he not kept off RAW the next night? Was his match at Over The Limit with Laurenitis always the plan? Thanks for your thoughts!

They were always going to the John Laurinaitis angle the next night.  Cena did what he was told.  You can see he conferred with a referee before taking the mic.

Spoiler I know, but why is Eric Bischoff and Garrett Bischoffs feud still main eventing episodes of Impact? Please can we get these two out of the picture and move on. The roster they have and the possible main events we could be seeing every week and we get this? And they wonder why they get a 0.9 rating.

I don't have an issue with them being used, but Garett Bischoff being in the main event position does nothing but underscore how premature it is for him to be there and completely undercuts the rest of the company and roster.  Similar to Erik Watts in WCW in 1992, when you see him in that position, you completely lose all "suspension of disbelief."  He should be working openers against veterans and learning. nothing more.

what is it going to take for WWE to return to the "good ol' days" of the attitude era? where "superstars" were allowed the freedom with their promos and personas? obviously TNA isnt going to give them the compitition that WCW did during the Monday Night Wars. Does Linda's Senate run have that much to do with the product that they wont go back to what brought them in the ratings? I mean, seriously, a HIAC without blood?

Apparently, it's going to take Brock Lesnar cracking people in the head with elbows!  WWE wants to the PG rating as a way to capture a new generation of fans and I am sure Linda's political plans have a LOT to do with it.  You can't ask people to Stand up for WWE while you are having say, Sable's bare breasts bouncing around following a  Val Venis angle.  WWE has changed the product to focus to represent how they want to be seen, not by the WWE fans, but by the average person outside of the wrestling bubble.
