LOOKING AT THE WIN/LOSS RECORDS OF THE WWE AND TNA ROSTERS: WEEK 17

By Darren Bongiovanni on 2012-05-01 08:56:57

NOTES FOR WEEK 17:

Welcome to Week 17 of Darren’s Win-Loss Records Column for the week of April 23 – April 29, 2012. This week was delayed to our final Pay-Per-View of the Month and 2nd for WWE, Extreme Rules. Tomorrow, Raw will be the final event of April, so therefore following that show, the April Month in Review will be up. Also, a quick correction from last week, R-Truth defeated Jack Swagger on Superstars and I forgot to add the win to his record. It has been fixed and updated. I apologize for the error. Now, here’s some news and notes for the week.

On Raw, Kofi Kingston & Chris Jericho wrestled for the 3rd time in 3 consecutive months. They wrestled on the final Raw before Elimination Chamber in February, the final Smackdown before WrestleMania, and now the final Raw before Extreme Rules. The Diva’s Championship Lumberjill Match was the 1st Diva’s Match on Raw since March 26, it was also the 2nd time that Beth Phoenix and Nikki Bella faced each other this month. It was the 61st Gimmick Match, 33rd for WWE, 27th WWE Title Match out of 57 Overall, and the 7th Title Change of the year and 5th for WWE.

On NXT, we had the return of JTG, who hasn’t competed since the February 9 episode of Superstars, where he & Michael McGillicutty lost to Epico & Primo. Also, even though it was originally announced as tag match with Percy Watson & Michael McGillicutty, the Tyson Kidd-Johnny Curtis Match became a singles match, so that it what it is listed here, therefore only Kidd & Curtis get credit and not Watson & McGillicutty.

On Superstars, we had the official in-ring debut of Camacho, though he was part of the Smackdown Battle Royal prior to Elimination Chamber, which was won by Santino Marella. We also had Maxine’s 2nd match on Superstars, where she last wrestled Aksana back in February. Superstars also gave us Kelly Kelly’s 3rd match in a row on Superstars and Miz’s 1st match since the 1st Raw of April, the night after WrestleMania

On Impact, we had 2 title matches added to our count, giving us our 32nd for TNA and 59th Overall, with the Television & Tag Team Title Matches. I was debating if I should include the Jeremy Borash-Eric Bischoff Match as an official match, due to it being so short and just a set-up on behalf of Bischoff & Bully Ray. But since it was Open Fight Night, every match was set-up because someone called their opponent out, and since there was a referee and a bell with an announcement of a winner, I decided to include it, so therefore Bischoff now has a win to go along with his loss from Lockdown and Jeremy Borash gets a loss in his debut match. Also making his debut was Alex Silva who lost to Robbie E in the 1st edition of the TNA Gut Check.

On Smackdown, we had the debut of Antonio Cesaro with a victory over Tyson Kidd. We also had 3 Non-Title Matches, as well as a Raw-Smackdown Re-Match, as Sheamus & Mark Henry wrestled against each other on both Raw & Smackdown. Also this week was the 2nd week in a row that The Big Show & Alberto Del Rio wrestled each other and was also the 2nd time that Cody Rhodes & The Great Khali fought, as they wrestled in March.

This week, we had our 3rd PPV of the month and 2nd of the month for WWE, with Extreme Rules. Like last month, I included the Pre-Show Match between Santino Marella & The Miz since it was shown on Youtube and wwe.com. With the 6 Gimmick Matches, this event gave us our 67th Gimmick Match for the year overall and 39th for WWE. With the 5 Title Matches, it also gave us our 64th Title Match for the year overall and 32nd for WWE. This event also marked the debut of Brock Lesnar to the list. The 2 wrestlers that lost to Ryback also made their debuts on the list and even though they wrestled on Pay-Per-View, since Ryback is a Smackdown talent, I listed them as Smackdown talents. The only other categories besides Raw, Smackdown, TNA, & NXT are Legends (LEG) and Non-Wrestlers (NW), which they are neither. Layla made her return to action after being out for a year injured. Her win over Diva’s Champion Nikki Bella, along with Cody Rhodes’ victory over The Big Show for the Intercontinental Championship was our 9th and 10th Title Change of the year and 6th and 7th for WWE. Also, for the first time since doing this column, 5 out of the 9 matches on the card were all re-matches, either from WrestleMania or Raw, in the case of the Brodus Clay-Dolph Ziggler match.

Now without further ado, here are the Win-Loss Records for this week, followed by the results of the week that was. Thanks again to Mike for posting it and all of you for reading it. Please send all feedback and comments to my Twitter Account (@hbkid718).
