LOTS OF EXTREME REUNION UPDATES

By Mike Johnson on 2012-04-25 12:53:11
The current plan for the Extreme Reunion event on 4/28 is to have another 4-5 matches beyond that has been already announced.  There will be some new talent debuting beyond just the ECW nostalgia matches that are booked, so they can showcase the battle plan of mixing older vets with newer names who can handle the style.

Former XPW star Altar Boy Luke Hawx has been tearing down Shane Douglas online of late, which appears to be a viral tease of him working the show.

The word making the rounds today is a former WCW name will be working 2 Cold Scorpio on Saturday at the event. There were a number of potential surprises that were being worked on in the last few days, including some other names from the original ECW.  None of those surprises are Tommy Dreamer, who based on reader reaction, everyone expects to work the show.  He's actually booked in NYC for FWE that night.

The official name of the company behind Extreme Reunion is "Five Guys Wrestling" - with those five being Shane Douglas, Cody Michaels, Kevin Kleinrock (who is heading up production), and Steve and Michael O'Neill, who were involved in Urban Wrestling and Dangerous Women of Wrestling.

Unless the sides come to terms, one name that won't be there this Saturday is Danny Doring.  One half of the final ECW World Tag Team champions, Doring announced online yesterday that he would not be at the event.  Doring claimed that he was never really officially booked as they had never agreed upon a price, although there were talks between the two sides.  In an appearance on the Online World of Wrestling podcast, Doring explained that he was going to be doing an angle where he showed up and ran down the reunion concept, which would have led to JC Ice coming out and finally the Gangstas.  Doring would have then fed Ice to the team and run off unscathed, kicking off the start of a storyline.  Doring noted that while he had helped come up with the angle, at no point was he officially booked since in his mind, they never confirmed a price and he wasn't going to work the show without having everything in order.   Doring said last night he was putting the angle out there since it was made clear that even though he wasn't coming in, they were going to do it, including using his ideas and verbiage, so he wanted it known where they came from.

Rhino, who was booked initially for this weekend, pulled off.  He is scheduled for the 6/30 date in Philadelphia.  There will be some ECW talents who weren't booked for this event booked for the June return.

Wolfie D of PG-13 will also not be appearing due to a personal issue he has to attend to.  He's booked for the return date in June.

There is talk of adding a Friday 6/29 date in the Northeast  as well.

Extreme Reunion will kick off Saturday morning with a Fanfest at the Pennsylvania National Guard Armory, followed by a live event at 7 PM with Shane Douglas vs. Sabu, Axl Rotten vs. Balls Mahoney, Al Snow vs. CW Anderson, Raven vs. Pitbull Gary Wolfe, The BWO vs. The FBI, Sandman, The Gangstas and more.  For more on Extreme Reunion, visit www.extremereunion.net.
