Could the reason that pro wrestling mostly isn't respected by the mainstream be that it pretended for decades it was real whereas it was obvious to most it wasn't and it left a stigma?

To a degree, yes.  Mostly though the mainstream media didn't cover it because they saw it as a low brow form of entertainment.

When did the Undertaker become the locker room general he is today?

There wasn't an exact day that I know of but rather it took place over time.  As his stature in the company grew so did his presence backstage.

Thanks for all the great info on the site. Here’s a two-parter, but I’ll be more than happy with an answer to the first part only. First, do you know how the divas feel about Maria Menounos taking one of their spots at WrestleMania, particularly given that she basically stunk up the joint? Second, do you think that with Fit Finlay back in WWE, the divas’ division might be able to pick up some steam and be treated more seriously? As always, thanks & keep up the great work.

From what I was told most weren't happy about it.  The reality is that at best only one of them would have gotten on the card had Maria not been there but it certainly is a slap in the face to be left off of the biggest show of the year at the expense of a D List celebrity.  But, Maria provided exposure on her show and that is what WWE wanted. It doesn't really matter who is brought back.  Until Vince McMahon decides to push the women more seriously, it won't happen.

Watching the HOF show, before the Raw, I was curious about something. Besides the fact that the editing was horrible, How/why did they decide to show Mike Tyson's induction, as opposed to Ron Simmons, Yokozuna, or Mil Mascaras? If it was for ratings, that doesn't make sense, as the people who are watching would be fans, who I would suppose would rather watch the induction of a wrestler than a celebrity. (and btw, this "celeb wing" of the HOF; how can you have a wing when there is no building? lol)

They did it for ratings to a degree but more to get mainstream outlets to take notice of it and mention it.  Tyson's name will get mentions that the ones you mention wouldn't.  WWE figured that wrestling fans would watch anyway.

Why hasn't WWE (formerly WWF) made any attempt to re-sign former diva Maria? I think she was the most over babyface diva since Trish Stratus and was really improving in the ring. Maria returning to challenge Beth Phoenix would bring some new life to the diva's division.

See above, the divas are not a big priority for the company right now.  Maria had become very confident and wanted to have more control of her career.  At that point, WWE lost interest in using her.
