WRESTLERS' HAIRCUTS, WWE'S KAYFABE CLOTHING, THE USWA UNIFIED TITLE AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2012-04-20 09:53:42
Was the USWA unified world title an actual world title? wouldn't that mean Jerry Lawler has more world title wins than anyone?

Although you will never hear me argue that the USWA title wasn't an important championship, the belt was never considered a "World" title on the level of the AWA, NWA, etc. In the old days of Memphis, the NWA champion and later the AWA champion defended the belt. Lawler started calling himself the Unified champion after he defeated Kerry Von Erich at Superclash III but the reality was that "World" title didn't last long because the AWA soon stripped him after they came to a wall in their business agreement. While the Unified title name was kept, it really wasn't much of anything beyond what it was - the top belt in a territory.

Doesn't the WWE usually release some talents around this time? I do feel bad for the talents that work hard, have crazy travel schedules, and then losing their jobs has been turned into a joke by their employers. Didn't the WWE trademark "Future Endeavored", classy.

It is about that time when they start to freshen up the roster, which is no different than any sports team franchise. I agree with you completely on the future endeavors comment. I'm not a fan of making light of anyone losing their livelyhood.

What happened to WWE's Kayfabe clothing line?

Apparently, it bombed hard as everything is already marked down 50% on their website.

I see that Kazarian and Bobby Roode both got haircuts recently. Why would they cut their hair and then not make it part of a storyline angle?

I agree with you completely on that. If you are going to change your look, build to it and make it an asset to the storyline or your character. I remember when Sabu, of all people, started showing up bald and it completely hurt his mystique and aura. Had he lost a hair match, at least there would have been a logical reason for it.

Whatever happened to Francine from ECW? I am shocked she isn't booked for Extreme Reunion?

Francine and her husband recently celebrated the birth of their second child. She's left the business and is happy being a mom.
