LOOKING AT THE WON/LOSS RECORDS OF THE WWE AND TNA ROSTERS: WEEK 15

NOTES FOR WEEK 15:
Welcome to Week 15 of Darren’s Win-Loss Records Column for the week of April 9 –
April 15, 2012. This is delayed due to TNA’s April Pay-Per-View, Lockdown, which
gave us 8 Gimmick Matches, due to all of the matches being held inside of the
Steel Cage. This week also gave us a Live Smackdown on Tuesday, instead of
Friday. Now, here’s some news and notes for the week.
On Raw, we had another April only Re-Match, as CM Punk and Mark Henry faced off
for the 2nd
week in a row. And like last week, Mark Henry won, but this time by
Disqualification, making this the 1st
time that a re-match was won by Count Out one week and then DQ the following
week. It was also our 48th
Title Match of the Year, and 24th
Overall for WWE. Lord Tensai wrestled his 2nd
match on Raw, this time over Yoshi Tatsu, which was his 1st
match on Raw all year. He’s been on Smackdown twice, but mostly only appears on
NXT and Superstars.
On Smackdown, the Mark Henry/Randy Orton Match was officially called a Double
Count Out, according to WWE.com, so that is the official record for this column.
Therefore, we get our 1st
No Contest on Smackdown since the Double Pin between CM Punk & Daniel Bryan on
February 21. The Mixed Tag Team Match was the 49th
Gimmick Match of the year and 30th
for WWE. Jim Duggan returned to action, in a Disqualification loss to Hunico. He
last competed on Smackdown in February with Santino Marella in a loss to Epico &
Primo. I didn’t think I would ever write this, but Mean Gene Okerlund gets a win
in my column, as him & Sheamus defeated Daniel Bryan & Alberto Del Rio. Also,
for future reference, even though Mean Gene is a Legend, he is listed as a
Smackdown wrestler because the match took place on Smackdown, the same with Jim
Duggan. Mick Foley & Road Dogg are listed as Legends because they only wrestled
at the Royal Rumble and not on a TV Show. If they competed on Raw, then they
would be listed as Raw wrestlers. The Rock is on the Raw Roster, so even if he
didn’t compete on Raw, he’s still a Raw wrestler.
On NXT, due to WWE airing Smackdown live, they only filmed 2 matches. This
marked the 2nd
time that only 2 matches took place on NXT. The last time was the NXT before
WrestleMania, since that show was taped prior to Raw and there was no Smackdown
taping. The other thing of note was the Tyson Kidd VS Michael McGillicutty
Match. This was their 3rd
match, making them the 1st
match to be re-matched in February, March, & April. The only thing of note on
Superstars was that with his loss to Jinder Mahal, Ezekiel Jackson now has the
worst record in all of wrestling with no wins and 10 straight losses. Other
wrestlers have more losses than him, but they also have won matches. He hasn’t
won a match all year.
On Impact, we had a 3 Match Series for Lethal Lockdown Advantage. All 3 matches
were normal singles matches, so therefore they are listed as such and are not
Gimmick Matches. In one of those matches, Bully Ray received his 1st
win over AJ Styles, moving him up on the list. Also, this week marked the 1st
time on Impact that neither James Storm nor Bobby Roode wrestled. There have
been times where one of the other competed, but this week neither man wrestled
on Impact.
This week marked the 2nd
Pay-Per-View of April and the 1st
for TNA with Lockdown. All of the matches were Steel Cage Matches, therefore it
gave us the most Gimmick Matches on a single show with 8 matches, bringing the
total of the year to 57 and 27 for TNA. Also, Lockdown had 5 Title Matches,
bringing the total title matches to 53 for the year and 29 for TNA. Lockdown
gave us the return of Rob Van Dam, who hasn’t competed since January at TNA
Genesis, as well as the debut of Eric Bischoff to the list. We also got several
matches added to our monthly re-match section, as Devon VS Robbie E, Crimson VS
Matt Morgan and ODB & Eric Young VS Sarita & Rosita were all March matches that
were re-matched in April. We also had the 3rd
Match between Jeff Hardy & Kurt Angle, giving us our 1st
TNA 3 time Re-Match for March & April.
