WHY UNDERTAKER WASN'T IN THE WWF TITLE PICTURE FOR NEARLY A DECADE, WHERE'S THE POPE, MANIA 29 WEEKEND AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2012-03-29 10:00:00
Bang up job as usual and kudos on all the spectacular audio that's produced for the site. I had a question about The Undertaker, after his first WWE Championship in 1991, why did the WWE wait more than six years before putting the WWE Title back on him? Did he cross someone backstage? from 1991 to 1997 he was really over with the fans, so it always puzzled me that he didn't get another title til 1997.

The reality is that the character never needed the belt. It used to be that you would use the belt to draw a live crowd when the champion was booked into a scenario where you believed he was defending it against a threat that had a chance. Undertaker, given his aura and personality, was a strong enough curiosity draw facing different monsters during that era, that he never needed the belt. In 1997, as the company's talent pool became thinner (remember this is before Steve Austin became a true hot star, when Shawn Michaelks was still being a pain in the rear and when The Rock was Rocky Maivia), he was moved into the championship picture.

My question is about the WWE HOF. With the 4 horsemen being inducted I'm thinking why not throw Sid Justice, Dean Malenko, and Lex Luger in the HOF too? All 3 are worthy and are former horsemen. Also why has WWE not promoted the HOF like they used to? We are a week away and I didn't hear it mentioned 1 time

The others can and should be presented as single entries into the Hall. Sid was a multi-time World champion as was Luger. Malenko was a long tenured star and backstage employee. None of them need to be part of the Horsemen to be inducted. Plus, the Horsemen that are being inducted are the best grouping of that stable, in my opinion.

As far as the Hall of Fame, the event sold out almost immediately, so pushing it was not as much of an issue as it had been in the past.

Which Indy promotions are coming to NJ-NY during WWE Wrestlemania 29 Weekend next year?

Too early to confirm, but I expect DGUSA, WrestleReunion, Ring of Honor and Jersey All Pro Wrestling to run events.

Will there be any womens title match at TNA's Lockdown pay per view event in Nashville, TN? I know all matches are held in a cage. Will there be a Knockout title match in a cage?

I am sure there will be.

I haven't seen D'Angelo "The Pope" Deneiro on Impact Wrestling lately. He's been feuding with Devon by turning his own two sons against him. That was then. What about now?

The latest victim of TNA not using someone. I haven't heard he will be let go, but wouldn't be shocked since that seems to be the pattern (see Brian Kendrick) when someone disappears for an extended period.
