RING OF HONOR ON SINCLAIR TV SPOILERS

By Michael Specian on 2012-03-17 08:18:27

Ricky Reyes def. Grizzly Redwood in 5:10. This was the dark match that opened the television tapings. In the final minute of the match, Reyes and Redwood exchanged a series of near falls including a brainbuster by Reyes and a roll-up by Redwood. In the end, Reyes pokes Redwood in the eyes, using the opening to hit Cross Rhodes.

Match 1: Adam Cole def. “The Psychedelic Superstar” Chris Silvio with the Florida Keys (his new cross-armed suplex) after a back-and-forth match. After the contest, Kyle O’Reilly appears at the announce table and grabs a microphone. He comments that Adam is on a winning streak, then challenges him to a match at Showdown in the Sun on March 30. Adam responds by saying that Kyle has whined and PMS’ed long enough. He accepts the match and tells Kyle that he will learn who the true backbone of Future Shock really was.

Kevin Kelly comes to the ring to interview Kevin Steen. Steen emerges on the entrance ramp to his remixed Davey Richards theme music while carrying the tennis racket with Richards’s face on it. Steen is swamped in streamers upon entering the ring and continues wearing them around his neck through the segment. Kelly brings up that Steen will be facing Eddie Edwards in the Blind Destiny Challenge at Showdown in the Sun. Steen comments that the concept is aptly named considering that Cornette is going blind. He says that Jim can try to keep him away from the ROH Championship, but he will win it and hold ROH hostage. He says that he will force Cornette to kiss his feet, then his ass, then his balls.

This draws Cornette out. Steen mocks him by doing the “you can’t see me” gesture with his tennis racket. Jim Cornette informs Steen that he has just gotten off the phone with someone that he hadn’t spoken to in a long time, someone who was looking for revenge. He tells Steen that at Showdown in the Sun – Day 1 he will face El Generico. He reminds Steen that he will be suspended if he uses the piledriver and that he won’t make it to his match with Eddie the following afternoon. Steen says all of this is fine because he thrives on causing El Generico pain. He warns Cornette that his sense of disbelief will be suspended when he takes Generico out and that he won’t let anyone stand in his way to the ROH Championship.

The main event is the first of four qualifying matches for the “March Mayhem Great 8” tournament. The winners of the four qualifying matches will participate in a 4-way elimination match in 3 weeks with the winner earning $24,000.

Main Event: Jay Lethal def. Roderick Strong (with Truth Martini) in 15:30. Both men trade holds to start. They go to the outside where Jay gains an advantage before Truth turns things in Roderick’s favor. In the latter section of the match, things turn very hard hitting and exhausting for both men. Strong executes a reverse Samoan drop over his knees, but Lethal kicks out. Lethal connects with the Lethal Combination, but Strong kicks out. Jay goes for his top rope elbow, but Truth Martini distracts the referee allowing Michael Elgin to run to the ring. Jay fights off Elgin long enough for Roderick to run into him allowing Jay to earn the roll-up pin. After the match, the House of Truth argues as the show goes off the air.
