INDEPENDENT WRESTLER INJURED, HAILED AS HERO FOR TRYING TO STOP ARMED MAN

By Mike Johnson on 2012-03-15 11:17:50
In a story that has gotten a lot of mainstream attention, Ohio independent wrestler Donte Dunnagan attempted to stop a knife-wielding attacker in a Columbus, Ohio office building, suffering a number of wounds.

The attacker had entered the building and stabbed several people when Dunnagan attempted to subdue him and stop him from attacking another person. Dunnagan suffered knife wounds to his abdomen, face, shoulder and arm. He's currently hospitalized but in stable condition.

The attacker confronted and stabbed someone in the admissions office of Miami-Jacobs, which is located in the building. Others were able to get the knife away but the man had others hidden and went on to stab four others on the building's first floor.

Police eventually shot the attacker, who had two knives in his hands as he lunged at them. Attempts to use a stungun on him were unsuccessful.

Dunnagan works for the financial aid department of Miami-Jacobs. He wrestles locally under the ring name "Dangerous" Damien Kass.

When speaking to the media, his girlfriend Therese Buckhardt said, “He was just protecting the lives of people he loves. He would have done that for anybody; he has a big heart.”
