GARETT BISCHOFF'S POSITION IN TNA, ROH DRAWS, WHERE ARE THE JARRETTS AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2012-03-08 09:41:28
I was wondering, what is your opinion of Ken Shamrock as a worker? I was was younger when he was popular but remember him being very entertaining. His handful of intercontinental title fueds as well as his challenging for the WWF championship were great. But I was curious what your opinion of him as an overall performer is, especially as a superstar making the transition from UFC. Also, are you surprised they never put the WWF title on Shamrock?

First, in regard to the transition from UFC, Shamrock trained and worked as an independent wrestler in the Southeast before breaking into MMA. I actually enjoyed Shamrock's work and thought he did a good job with his character. I am actually surprised he hasn't popped up for cameos here and there and absolutely expect them to put him in the WWE Hall of Fame one day.

First of, Im a new subscriber to the elite section and just want to say what a great job you guys do with it. Fast, ad free, informative, great audio, definetely worth a few bucks a month! My question is regarding TNA. I agree with you, that recently some of the show has been really good. I like the Roode/Sting story, and think pushing Aries is overdue. However some things just make me scratch my head. For one I cant understand how a member of management (eric bischoff) is allowed to feud with his non wrestling son on such a prominent position on the card. The fact that Gunner (who has as much personality as a Steve Blackman family painting) is involved, with Ric Flair popping up with a whooo every 4 weeks just adds to the failure of it. How can anyone at TNA (and Im not saying its Bischoff) be booking this stuff for 5 straight months now, whilst the likes of Styles, Aries (up until recently) RVD (who has never meant less to the audience), Shelley, Joe and Morgan are stuck in feuds underneath it? I want to be entertained by great wrestling with great stories. Not non wrestling stories that seem to never have a blow off.

I am with you completely on the Garett Bischoff opinion. If he wasn't Bischoff's son, he wouldn't be that high up on the card. He's just not ready to be in that position or to carry that level of storytelling, either in the ring or as a personality. As far as the talents working underneath, to be fair, you can't push everyone at once and I feel they are doing a better job balancing everything of late, so we just have to see. The Steve Blackman family painting was a great line, by the way.

Is it me or does Ring of Honor use the time limit draw to damn much? I get your trying to build of feuds And some times it good to show each guys are on the same level and equal skill, and it away to let a undefeated guy loss without a giving them a lost. But come on man shouldn't there be a year pitch count on it i mean R.O.H. Had at least one time limit draw on 7 out of 10 tv program and 9 out of 10 of last ppv. There other ways to end it in a draw double count outs double ko double pin anything! Hell those finishes cause more hype for the build up anyway.

I see your point. I think part of the reason for the draws was to get over the importance of the TV title as something guys are fighting for, to show its prestige. I also don't think it's the draws as much as the way they are presented. For instance, the second they went for the "three minutes left" call on the iPPV over the weekend, the audience sort of knew it would be a draw and that hurts the drama. I'd rather see them give time calls every five minutes, like Jim Crockett Promotions used to handle it.

On a recent TNA Impact Wrestling a women's match took place with Mickie James and Velvet Sky facing Angelina Love and her partner Sarita. One thing struck me. No Winter with Love nor was there Rosita alongside Sarita as usual. Anything to that?

Yes, there is something to that. TNA has moved them apart from each other.

Will Jeff Jarrett and his wife Karen be returning to TNA anytime soon?

No time table for that. Until they do, Jeff Jarrett can be seen on Ring Ka King, which is well worth going out of your way to see.
