DWAYNE JOHNSON NEWS AND NOTES

Obviously,Dwayne Johnson's new film "Journey 2 Mysterious Island" opens today. It's the first 3D film he's done in his acting career and will be released in traditional, 3D and IMAX versions. So, this weekend we have The Rock vs. Star Wars since Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace is being re-released in 3D. The good news for Rock is that well, it's the Phantom Menace.

Rock will be on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon tonight to promote the film.

Rock was also on ESPN earlier this week and when asked what The Rock was cooking, quipped, "Bullsh**." That was pretty funny. You can check out the clip at this link.

The New York Daily News gave Journey 2 a nice review, saying it was a throwback to 1970s films like "Land That Time Forgot" (which means I get to make a Doug McLure shout out, another off the bucket list!) and would appeal perfectly to younger moviegoers, which is the target audience. Newsday was not as kind, noting that the cast "should have stayed home" on this Journey. Ouch. To read it, click here.

Other reviews for the film have been mixed but you can't look at a film made for silly laughs and 3-D effects with a boorish critical eye. "The Artist" this is not meant to be.
