Last week on SAW…Vordell Walker pinned Game with the a spinning uranage…Eric Wayne pinned Shane Smalls with an Oklahoma Roll…SAW Tag Team Champions Johnny Bandana & Cody Melton defeated Casey Kage & Bryan Rivers,,,Jeff “The Crippler†Daniels and Derrick King (with Dominique) picked a fight with the champions after the match. Drew Haskins came out and the situation devolved into a pull apart brawl.
Michael Graham said it was a double gold hour coming up with the SAW Women’s Champion and the SAW Tag Team Champions both making title defenses.
1 – SAW Women’s Title Match – Champion TRACY TAYLOR vs. NWA Women’s World Champion TIFFANY ROXX
Roxx conceded a battle of wristlocks and armbars by grabbing the ropes. Taylor took Roxx down with a punishing headlock takeover. Roxx resorted to a hair pull takedown, and did whatever it took to keep Taylor on the mat, including a nice short arm clothesline for a near fall. Taylor fired up with flipper forearms, so Roxx went to the eyes. Taylor rallied with rapid fire forearms, a pair of dropkicks and a leg lariat, but before Taylor could go for the kill, she was speared by wild-eyed blonde woman in a furry two pieced outfit.
OUTCOME: No contest at 4:37 when Taylor was attacked by an unidentified jungle woman.
Rudy Charles paid a visit to Paul Adams, who was recovering from his five minutes of hell with Vordell Walker. Charles wished he could have been there for him, but Walker looked really angry and stuff like that made him queasy. Charles had a lemon meringue pie. Adams’ spirits lifted significantly. Then he noticed that a big chunk was missing. “I think it came like that,†Charles said. “I might have gotten a little hungry on the way.†Adams said after much soul searching, he was done with wrestling. He offered to sell A-Team to Charles, lock, stock, and barrel and Charles didn’t need to bother reading the contract because Jesse Emerson drew it up. No fork or napkin, so Adams started eating the pie with his finger and wiping his mouth with his tie. He asked Charles if he could represent the organization with class and dignity as he had. Charles said when he was living in squalor, Adams was there for him, and now he would be there for Adams to take the A Team to new heights. Adams delivered the bad news. David Young had retired to become a Bigfoot hunter. Charles said Bigfoot didn’t exist. Adams said there were other undiscovered entities like the Loch Ness Monster, Chupacabra and Matt Sigmon’s charisma. Adams said Roxy was going back to beauty school for the third time, and Rick Santel’s rehab wasn’t going well, so he was good 1-3 years away. “But you’ve got the whole organization, Rudy. Look, I think you’ve got a plan…You and Emerson can do this.†Adams said $1500 a week for two years and Charles could have the whole thing paid off. “I gave you the friend price.†Adams thanked Charles for the pie and told him the first payment was due Friday.
2 – JESSE EMERSON (with Rudy Charles) vs. SPIRAL
Emerson systematically dismantled the young newcomer with power moves, including a double underhook suplex and a fisherman suplex for near falls. Charles did some maniacal choking. After delivering a vicious series of chops, Emerson dared Spiral to fight back. Spiral backflipped over the top of Emerson, stunned him with a superkick, and followed with a split-legged armcracker. Emerson brought Spiral’s flurry of indytastic offense to an abrupt halt with a devastating Alabama Slam.
WINNER: Emerson in 3:30 with the Alabama Slam.
Grumpy’s Update – Leah Hulan said that thanks to the hot tips provided by SAW viewers, bail jumper Eric Tyrone Taylor had been captured. Hulan said Taylor wasn’t a bad person. He just had a lot of things that were keeping him from coming to court and they were able to make that happen by nabbing him.
Last week on SAW…footage of Jeremiah Plunkett lashing Derek Neal with a leather strap aired in slow motion. Cut to Plunkett on his land on Tater Peeler, TN. Plunkett reminisced about the night some poor sap made a wrong turn down his road. “That’s one night that boy won’t ever forget. That night was a lot of fun. That’s a night I won’t forget either.†Plunkett said he was sure that old boy regretted turning down his road, just like Neal regretted the day he went down the path that led to Jeremiah Plunkett. “A lot of these old boys in SAW are going to regret going down a path that leads to JP. They’re going to find out that JP is all about pain. And that JP is all about that fine line between pleasure and pain. And boys, your pain is going to be my pleasureâ€
Graham announced a one night tournament to crown a new SAW International Champion featuring four men - Chase Stevens, Vordell Walker, Ryan Genesis and the winner of a wild card tournament contested between Plunkett, Emerson, Jon Michael Worthington and Micah Taylor.
Stevens spoke at length about the pivotal role he’s played in SAW, starting in 2007 when the Naturals returned from Puerto Rico and participated in SAW’s first TV taping. Stevens talked about his feud with Douglas being the high point of SAW, and how it took SAW to a level beyond what anyone thought possible for a Middle Tennessee promotion. They aired clips of Stevens falling off the balcony during their Last Man Standing match and the cage match that turned out to be the final match of Douglas’ career, no doubt two of the best matches in the company’s history. Stevens said SAW fell on hard times when their equipment and TV footage was stolen, but the roster came together to do whatever was necessary to keep the company afloat. Stevens put the SAW roster over as being the most talented around. Stevens said it made him sick that the thief, Kid Kash, became the SAW Champion. Stevens said the fans didn’t pay to see Kash and SAW owner Reno Riggins hated him. Stevens said Reno put everything on the line and defeated Kash. “Did I help him? Who wouldn’t?†Stevens talked about his respect for Chris Michaels. Stevens said that when he broke his neck in the ring as a rookie, it was Michaels that helped him through it. Stevens said Michaels was forced into retirement by an eye injury when he still had the tools to be the SAW Champion. Stevens said he wished he could meet Michaels for the title, but it was not to be. Stevens said pro wrestling wasn’t what it used to be and could be more than what it was today. He said wrestlers are there for a paycheck and don’t give it their all. “They’re not wanting to be professional wrestlers. They want to be actors. They want to be something more than just wrestling.†Stevens said he didn’t know anybody that had more heart and soul than he did when it came to pro wrestling. He said SAW prospered the year he was champion, and he would take the company to a whole new level as champion again.

3 – SAW Tag Team Title Match – Champions CODY MELTON & JOHNNY BANDANA vs. JEFF “The Crippler†DANIELS & DERRICK KING (with Dominique)
The champions hit the ring with a sequence of maneuvers in stereo, finishing with double dropkicks. King dumped Melton and the heels started beating on Bandana. Dominique repeatedly put her pointy high heeled boots to him. Bandana and King knocked noggins, and the tag to Melton was made. The match broke down to four way action. Melton and Bandana did the dosey do into double dropkicks, and had thing going their way when they were attacked by the returning (from incarceration?) Josephus.
WINNERS: Melton & Bandana retained via DQ at 6:40 when they were attacked by Josephus.
After decimating Melton and Bandana, Josephus turned his attention to King and left him laying with a monster chokeslam. Daniels and Dominique tried to contain their crazed monster.
Afterthoughts: The Adams/Charles vignette was tremendous, their most entertaining work so far. Adams’ has a flair for comedy and his performance here far surpassed what usually passes for acting in pro wrestling vignettes. When it comes to making himself the poster boy for the sleazier elements of human nature, Adams takes no prisoners. And he’s got great timing. And let me not overlook the spectacularly understated performance by Rudy Charles. The segment ran long but by the same token, the meandering gave it authenticity that is lacking with scripted dialogue…Speaking of running long, the Stevens monologue was an interesting mix of shoot comments and fantasyland. His thought about the current state of pro wresting came straight from the heart. It would stretching things immensely to say that SAWE prospered during his title reign, but they did run larger buildings and draw larger crowds than they have anytime since, and there’s no question that his feud with Douglas produced the best series of matches in the company’s history…They gave it the old college try to get Plunkett’s countrified sadist character over. The slow motion footage had a visceral edge. The verbiage was clever. The problem with the gimmick is that his teeth are way too perfect for a Deliverance hillbilly…Not much to the wresting in this episode. Both title matches ended in dismayingly similar fashion – DQs via a surprise run in. Taylor’s match was basically just a place holder to set up the debut of Abriella. Something tells me I shouldn't be looking forward to Abriella vs. Taylor. The tag title match clicked pretty well. The champions redeemed themselves after last week, and the heels got more heat than the other matches at this taping. I like story being told with King and Daniels and the way they’re fanning the flames of distrust by seeing which guy’s former partner can f*** things up the worst…Emerson just keeps getting better. He’s technically sound but he’s also one hell of a brawler. I have to give this episode thumbs up on the strength of the Adams/Charles vignettes alone.
