ANDRE DAVIS, INDY WRESTLER CONVICTED OF FELONIOUS ASSAULT IN CONJUNCTION WITH HIS HIV STATUS, SENTENCED

By Mike Johnson on 2012-01-23 13:10:10

Independent wrestler Andre Davis, who was convicted on 14 counts of felonious assault for sleeping with women and not disclosing his HIV status was sentenced to 32 years imprisonment today according to WCPO in Ohio. He could have been sentenced to over a hundred years under Ohio law.

Davis apologized for his action and asked for the minimum sentence, stating that he was suffering from sexual addiction and did not truly recognize what he had done because he was in a deep depression after learning of his HIV status. Davis stated that he hoped to atone for what he did and become an activist to help educate people on the dangers, also noting that as a father of five, he realized how badly he had neglected his children after being incarcerated.

Davis allegedly learned of his status while taking routine medical tests for a potential WWE contract as they were interested in hiring him as a referee.

When the story first broke, area wrestlers who had worked in matches with Davis where blood was involved went running to get their medical statuses checked.
