NOTES FOR THE WEEK: Welcome to Week 3 of Darren’s Win-Loss Records Column for the week of January 16-22, 2012. First of all, a quick correction from last week. From some reason, I excluded Mark Henry from the list, as I was re-reading the past results. So, his record is now updated. I apologize for the error. From now on, before the listings of the matches and the win-loss results, I will give a review of the major events that took place this week. We have our first title change of the year, as Jack Swagger defeated Zack Ryder for the United States Championship, even though the Tag Titles changed hands on a Live Event the night before Raw. The new champs Epico & Primo made their first title defense, and the 1st tag title defense of the year, with a successful one over Air Boom, giving us our 13th title match, along with the US Title Match. Also, that match marked Evan Bourne’s last match for the next 60 days (For more on that story, check elsewhere on the site). The Over The Top Rope Challenge is considered a match, so R-Truth gets a win, while Wade Barrett, The Miz, & Sheamus receive losses, also making it the 6th Gimmick Match of the year. Even though the John Cena-Jack Swagger match never officially began, it was officially listed on WWE.com as a No Contest, so that is what it will be listed as here, also making Swagger the 1st man to have 2 matches on a single show. In the main event, since John Laurinaitis reversed the decision, Mark Henry, David Otunga, & Dolph Ziggler received a win over Daniel Bryan, effectively ending his undefeated streak, though he had a Draw for his No Contest with The Big Show, Chris Jericho, officially adding him to the list, and CM Punk, by Disqualification due to Mick Foley’s interference. As it has been for 100 episodes, nothing important happened on NXT, besides the No Disqualification Match between Titus O’Neil & Darren Young, which added to the Gimmick Match count. Nothing important happened on Superstars this week, besides Tamina’s 3rd consecutive victory over Natalya. On Impact, we had our 3rd consecutive No Contest in the Main Event, as well as our first ever Female Gimmick Match. On Smackdown, due to the Sin City Smackdown Theme, we had 5 more Gimmick Matches added to the count. The Player’s Choice Match does not count as a Gimmick Match, since it was a regular one-fall match and also, even though Hornswoggle was the announced opponent for Cody Rhodes, Justin Gabriel replaced him in the match, so Gabriel gets the loss, not Hornswoggle. Also, the Dance Off wasn’t an official match, so Brodus Clay, Vickie Guerrero, and William Regal do not get wins or losses for it. And the main event, like Impact, was another No Contest, giving Smackdown 2 consecutive No Contests.
