MORE ON THE EXTREME REUNION EVENT IN PHILADELPHIA

By Mike Johnson on 2012-01-16 16:17:01
The Extreme Reunion event in Philadelphia, PA on 4/28 is not planned as simply a one night event, according to sources. I am told the plan, should the initial show be successful, would be to run a regular series of events using names familiar to old school ECW fans and eventually mix some other talents who would "make sense" for the product into the events and create new storylines using the shared roster. While the show is billed as a "one night only event", that is hype for the Reunion aspect of the group.

The 4/28 event has already sold out sections of their front row, to the tune of $100 a ticket, without announcing any talent beyond Douglas. The show is priced at $100, which includes a take home chair, down to $30 for General Admission, so if they can draw, they'll make a nice gate. The largest ever gate in the history of the ECW Arena was the first Hardcore Homecoming event, but that was June 2005 and this will be 2012. How well tickets can move will be an interesting question to follow.

I am told a lot of names will be announced in the weeks to come but right now, only Douglas' name is being made public.

As you can imagine, the original plan for the show was to hold it in the former ECW Arena. With that no longer an option, they booked the National Guard Armory, which can hold several thousand fans.

For those who asked whether the EVOLVE angle closing their show was an angle playing into the Extreme Reunion show, that answer is no. EVOLVE wasn't aware of the Reunion when they booked their angle, which was designed to put heat on Sami Callihan. There is no planned crossover there.

Steve O'Neill, who heads up the production and creative end of the Urban Wrestling Federation is behind the Extreme Reunion project. Douglas will be involved in the creative aspect of the show. Cody Michaels and Kevin Klinerock of UWF and Wrestling Society X fame will also be working on the production of the show.
