REPORT: WRESTLEMANIA GOING TO NEW JERSEY

By Mike Johnson on 2012-01-12 15:14:06
PoptheCrowd.com, a website run by former promoter Tommy Fierro, is reporting that HHH's appearance at the New York Giants practice yesterday was part of a meeting with HHH and other WWE officials over running a future Wrestlemnania at the Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. Fierro did not know if it would be Wrestlemania 29 or 30.

PWInsider.com has NOT independently confirmed their report, but enough readers have asked about the rumor that we wanted to credit where the report originated.

Dallas, Texas has been bandied about as a possible site for Mania 29 in recent weeks. As I noted yesterday, there was no official edict made internally as to where Mania 29 would be held yet.

Wrestlemania has traditionally been held in Madison Square Garden, its original home, for its ten year anniversaries, so moving it to a Stadium (even one ten minutes from Manhattan by car) would be a departure from that tradition.

Another factor to take into account would be that the weather would be much conceivably colder in the Northeast during the time period Wrestlemania usually takes place, plus the Stadium is open air with no roof. While football fans are well known for braving the cold weather, WWE fans might be a different animal, even for Wrestlemania.
