MID-SOUTH WRESTLING DOCUMENTARY, WHEN LESNAR WILL POP UP IN WWE AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2012-01-07 10:00:00
Its probably already been speculated but just in case it hasn't with UFC star Brock Lesnar announcing his retirement from MMA any chance we might see him returning to WWE in 2012? He was quoted saying that this was the last time you will see me in an Octagon. Why not a wrestling ring?

It's pretty much a given that when the timing is right and UFC is willing to allow Brock Lesnar to do WWE, it'll happen, but nothing is set in stone as of this writing. It certainly would be interesting to see Lesnar show up at Wrestlemania though....

I have to say i am really enjoying CM Punk as champ. In fact he should have been champ all along since he won it in July. Nice to see him now as a main event guy. My only concern though is with the recent trend of the raw rating drops in hour 2 will WWE be looking to get the belt off him? Cena last week gets slotted into the 11pm over run and the trend breaks. I really hope WWE doesn't look at this as Punk being the reason because it's a lot deeper than that. Bad booking, poor character development, illogical storylines, and not really exciting tv. CM Punk is really the only part of Raw every week I look forward to, along with Daniel Bryan and Mark Henry. Punk is like a breath if fresh air. I read how people are concerned with Bryan losing the belt, but I am concerned for punk as well. Thoughts?

It's a valid concern to be sure, but that second hour has been dropping for some time well before Punk was given the belt. I honestly believe that the presentation of the business as this tongue in cheek action adventure series as opposed to a legitimate presentation as well as the announcing being at it all time most obnoxious, thanks to the Michael Cole character, are far worse problems. If they are blaming Punk for any of their problems, they are looking for a scapegoat, not an answer. He didn't go from the most talked about performer of 2011 to an albatross in 2012.

After the Tara/Tessmacher match on Impact Wrestling both women posed in the move known as Tebowing made famous by Denver Broncos quarterback star Tim Tebow. It blew my mind. I liked it. What did you think? Do you see someone in WWE tebowing as well?

I think it's stupid. Do your own deal, don't imitate someone else's.

Do you think we'd ever see a documentary on the Mid-South promotion?

I certainly hope so. The Watts family owns all the rights and a lot of the major players, Bill Watts, Jim Ross, Buck Robley, Bill Dundee, Ted DiBiase, etc. are still alive while names like Ernie Ladd and Steve Williams have been interviewed in the past so that archival footage could be inserted into the film. It's one of the greatest territories of all time and Memphis Heat, Forever Hardcore and Heroes of World Class have shown that such a film can be an interesting story and a financial success.

Has WWE brought Dave Finlay back?

Not as of this writing, no, which is something of a surprise.
