HOW TO RECOGNIZE THE WWE TITLE LINEAGE OF THE SUMMER, FAVORITE TALKERS, HARDY AT IMPACT AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2011-09-11 10:00:00
What would happen if the czar of the internet Matt Hardy were to show up at a taping of TNA's Impact Wrestling?

My guess is he'd be escorted off the property by Universal Studios security for tweeting about the taping.

Do you see WWE inducting the late legendary female wrestling great Donna Christanello to the WWE Hall of Fame next year posthumously?

I don't. While Christanello was a strong hand, she wasn't the type of mainstream name that WWE would be expected to induct. Is she deserving? Of course, but so is Penny Banner and she's not in there. With all due respect to Christanello, there are other names that WWE would believe should deserve to go in before her as well, including Elizabeth and Trish Stratus.

I was curious as to which former wrestlers (or wrestlers nearing the end of their career) do you feel has the best mind for the business and might help out most in creative or booking? I remember hearing for a while that Raven might be a good fit that way, are there any others that you can think of or suggest?

I think there's a number of names out there that fit this bill - Mick Foley, Taz, Finlay, Bully Ray, Dean Malenko, Tommy Dreamer, Raven, etc.

First of all, I want you guys to know how much I appreciate the good work you do on this site. Until recently, I quit watching Raw but continued to check this site daily. I would be curious to know who you guys would list in your All-Time Top5 in regards to who could cut the best promo. Mine in no particular order: The Rock, Ric Flair, Jim Cornette, Mick Foley, and Steve Austin. Shoutout to Jake "the Snake". Thoughts?

My favorite promos would absolutely include everyone you mentioned, as well as Terry Funk, Jerry Lawler, Arn Anderson, Dusty Rhodes, Randy Savage, CM Punk, the ROH era of Samoa Joe, Bill Watts as the authority figure in Mid-South, Paul Heyman, Taz, Shane Douglas, Tully Blanchard, Tommy Dreamer and the ECW era of The Public Enemy. Also, while I never understood a word he said, Atsushi Onita may have been one of the most charismatic people I've ever seen on tape. I've seen Thunderbolt Patterson cut promos a number of times in my life and I've never understood what the hell he means, but if he was a wrestler, I'd sure want to pay to see him after listening to him!

Thanks for the great site guys! My question concerns the titlelineage for the WWE championship after this summers events. How would you list it? In my opinion CM Punk is a two-time WWE champion, defeating Cena twice. He was stripped of the title by Vince McMahon after Money in the bank, while McMahon still was in charge. Then came back claiming to be champion. When Shawn Michaels came back in 1993 claiming to be the real intercontinental champion no one recognized him as champion even tought he carried a title belt around. And if we're supposed to recognize Punk as champion for this period, how can we recognize Rey Misterio and John Cena? I guess because WWE says so.

The reality is that WWE recognized Punk as the WWE champion at the same time they recognized Cena. In 1993, the storyline was that the company didn't recognize Shawn Michaels, but Michaels kept the IC belt. So, you recognize Rey and Cena as well as Punk under the understanding that the belt fragmented and they was reunited into one entity. Hell, if they can consider Dolph Ziggler a former World champion, then all three can be considered WWE champs!
