PUNK THE ANTI-HERO, BLOWING THE INVASION ANGLE, POSSIBLE HEAT ON CENA, WHAT IF THE WWF HAD FAILED AND MORE

I have heard that Sheamus was punished for some reason, much like Triple H was punished after the MSG incident in 1996 and that's why after his title runs he was jobbing to guys like Santino. Is this true?

The story we got was that Sheamus was de-pushed until he signed a new deal with WWE.  Once he signed the contract, his push started again.

Why in the world is WWE pairing CM Punk with John Cena, making him a full-fledged babyface. Don't they realize Punk's appeal is as an anti-establishment hero? That's what got everyone talking about him and spawned renewed interest in WWE. I feel like they're trying to keep him from getting bigger than Cena. Your thoughts?

I don't think that they have gone into "pairing" mode yet.  He made it clear on Raw last week that he wasn't John Boy's pal.  I don't have a problem with them having him "align" with Cena when they have a common enemy but agree that making him a generic WWE face would be a big mistake.  His anti-hero personality is what makes him different and interesting.

Do you think there will be repercussions against John Cena for what some would consider a shout out to Chris Benoit by using Benoit's finishing submission hold of the Crippler Crossface in his billed from home of Edmonton, Alberta during his match against CM Punk on Raw (8/22)?

No and I don't think that their should be.  It's a move.  Yeah, a murderer did it in the past but it's still just a wrestling move to me.

When WWE did the Invasion Angle, no major WCW stars were brought in, but less then a year after the story began, Flair, Hogan, Nash, Hall had all returned to WWF and these were major stars of WCW (and Goldberg not too long after). Surely WWF could have seen the poor reaction to the angle, but waited for Flair to come in a "savior of WCW" character and he could have brought back the NWO and giving the fans the storyline that wrestling fans had dreamed of for many years. Surely the Invasion Angle has to be the biggest letdown/waste of time in wrestling history (although the nexus would come close).  Thoughts?

I have said for years that WWE left a ton of cash on the table with that angle.  Given the option of spending the money for the top WCW talent, they chose not to.  Instead of making the WCW group strong, they buried them showing that WWE was superior all along.  It was nuts.  My take is once I bought WCW it was my company and I would make it strong and equal, thus creating two strong companies.  WWE chose to bury WCW.  It was a bad decision.  Then, they did the same thing later with ECW.  Unreal.

Had the WWF gone out of business and WCW been still going today, what would the state of the business be like today?

My best guess is that WCW would have gone down too, though it's possibly that being the only game in town would have kept them around, possibly in spite of themselves.  Had they gone down, other people would have come along to run shows.  Beyond that, it's too hard to say how they would have done.
