ESPN HIRES DEPARTING WWE ANNOUNCER

By Mike Johnson on 2011-08-23 23:28:24
Todd Grisham, who worked for WWE for a number of years as an announcer, finished with tonight's NXT TV Taping as he has left the company for a position with ESPN. There had been talk of Grisham leaving the company for several months now as his responsibilities were greatly scaled back over the last year.

Grisham, who also did regular play by play for soccer events on FOX Sports, had been with WWE from 2004 on in different roles, including backstage interviewer, lead announcer for ECW on Sci Fi and a number of now-defunct WWE broadcasts, including Byte This, Sunday Night Heat and The Bottom Line. At one point, his work with Matt Striker on the ECW series a few years back was easily the best broadcast team in the company.

On his Twitter account, William Regal wrote that he wished Grisham well and thanked him for all his help with Regal's commentary work on WWE NXT.
