PUNK'S ANGLE AND WHERE IT RANKS IN RECENT HISTORY, A POSSIBLE CENA VS. TAKER MATCH, WWE DISTANCING ITSELF FROM CHRIS BENOIT AND MORE

In the 7/24 Q&A, Chris Benoit was mentioned and how certain people are saying that he should be remembered for his work rather than his actions. I completely agree with your standpoint when it comes to Benoit. My question is: at what point does the erasing of Benoit start affecting other people's legacies? WWE has a DVD release on Randy Orton coming out but his story would seem incomplete if they just mentioned he was the youngest recognized World Champion ever but don't mention Benoit. My suggestion would be Orton saying "at one point, Chris Benoit was a very respected wrestler who was considered the best in the world and defeating him for the title was what really sent me on my way to becoming a main eventer." And then they can proceed to the feeling of him being the youngest ever and never mention Benoit again in the DVD. The match doesn't need to be shown but I feel like that night was very important in the career of Randy Orton. Jericho's comprehensive DVD felt like there was a hole without any mentions of Benoit since their careers intertwined a lot. Again, not showing matches but talking about their rivalry and partnership, then moving on would have filled in some blanks to those not familiar with Jericho's career. In either case, nothing needs to be mentioned about what happened in 2007 nor do any matches have to be shown. But ignoring Benoit completely seems to unjustly and undeservedly make parts of other people's careers a backdoor secret. I know it's a touchy subject but I don't feel guys who've worked with Benoit and had some great moments with him should have those parts of their careers completely forgotten. Thoughts?

I get your point but the bottom line is that Benoit murdered his family and I don't blame WWE one bit for not wanting to include him in their DVDs.  The guy was a slug and a lowlife and I wouldn't want to associate my company with him either.  It's a shame for the guys who had matches with him but not enough of one to include Benoit on DVDs.

Why hasn't WWE done Cena vs. Undertaker at Wrestlemania yet? I think that match would be just as big a draw as Cena vs. Rock. Maybe even bigger.

They haven't been in the same circles basically.  Cena is on Raw, Taker on Smackdown.  Cena has been in the title hunt, Taker has been fighting off injuries.  At this point, we don't know what Taker has left and if he can't deliver a great bout, he would probably not want to work against Cena.  His standards are really high.  Also at this point, Rock is a bigger draw thank Taker for Mania since it's been so long since he has wrestled.

I’m writing this about a week after CM Punk won the title. Do you think that after just one week Punk has done more for not only the WWE Title, but Wrestling as a whole than many other champions have done since the original run of the NWO. I mean you look at Q and A’s on your site and there are at least 1 or 2 questions every time about him. Then you look at crowds, especially the one at Chicago for MITB and the group at the press conference at Comic Con and there is an energy that has been missing for so long. And the Gregory Iron bit, that was what being a champ is all about.

No, I don't. As good as the nWo was, The Attitude Era kicked its ass in every since category.  So no, CM Punk's angle hasn't come close to the heights of that era.  With that said, Punk's recent work has led to a lot of buzz around the industry so WWE would be smart to continue that.

I don't really follow TNA very closely, but I'm a little confused about the name of the company. Are they now called iMPACT wrestling, or is the show now just called iMPACT wrestling instead of TNA iMPACT? And, not to put them down, but for a company that isn't exactly very well branded in the first place, why would they change their name at this point in their development. As someone who only occasionally sees their shows, I find myself very confused by this whole thing.

TNA is the company.  iMPACT Wrestling is the TV show.  And yes, it makes no sense to me either to change the name after all of these years.

Have you ever heard any flack from wrestlers for working with guys who wear jeans and/or denim shorts in the ring? If it were me, I don't know how keen I would be to be sliding up against zippers, buttons, etc.

No I haven't.  Given where the zippers are, if guys just keep their hands off of the other guy's junk, there isn't a problem.
