PUNK-HHH PROGRAM, WHAT WWE NEEDS TO DO WITH ITS TITLES VS. WHAT THEY ARE ACTUALLY DOING, WHY PUNK CAME BACK SO SOON AND MORE

Before CM Punk came out at the end of Raw, John Cena's title win was kind of an "oh great, here we go again" moment for me. Cena strikes me as being in the position where he can draw and sell merchandise without being the champ, while new talent can be worked in as upper tier talents in the title hunt. Do you think Raw is more interesting without Cena as a champion?

You must not be an Elite member because I have been saying for a long time now that Cena and Randy Orton are both made men and thus do not need the title or to be in the title picture since all of the time since they are already stars.  Their matches already have a title match feel to them just because they are participating.  The titles could be used to help elevate new talents and WWE hasn't done a good job in that area.  So yes sir, I totally agree with you here.

I was really disappointed to see Punk last Monday. Yes I thought it was a good storyline that he quit, and I really thought he would quit and take some time off, and somehow return in the fall. But now I see I was tricked, which makes me think less of him. Oh well. What are your thoughts on all this?

You weren't tricked.  He really was tired.  His contract really was coming to an end and he really did plan on leaving.  Then, things changed and his character got hot, as well as pushed.  I was happy he came back because it continued a very interesting program.  I will only be disappointed if they have Cena kill him and bury him again.  If they take advantage of a great opportunity and make Punk a true top guy, I think it would have made no sense for him to leave all of his momentum and the opportunity behind.

Do you feel that CM Punk coming back so soon was a bit rushed? Or because SummerSlam is right around the corner and the fans chanting for Punk they needed to bring him back quickly to keep the fire burning sort a speak? And do you feel he can be a bigger heel than Edge was ala 2006 when he went to the next level.

I think as long as he is pushed hard and well, it was not rushed.  I think him vs. Cena will draw a lot more money at SummerSlam than Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio would have.  So, I would have pulled the same trigger here.  You have to take advantage of things while they are hot because if you allow them to cool off, they may never get back to where they were.  I think Punk should be pushed as a straight shooting, anti-authority character that doesn't ask for fan support but gets it anyway.  I am not saying he should be booked as the next Steve Austin because that would probably fail, but I do think he should be booked as a lone wolf that speaks the truth and rails against the machine kind of character.  It will get over if they do it.

I remember Ernie Ladd stating many times that he was making more money wrestling than playing football.  He said that was the reason he left football to wrestle full-time.  Is he telling the truth?

I believe him.  Back in his day, only the star players made big money.  The rest of the guys had to work second jobs, which is how Ladd got into wrestling.  Keep in mind, Baseball was the national past time back then (and a lot baseball players also had off season jobs).  Football was a distant second, which is hard to believe today.

Would you rather see Punk v. HHH at 'Mania, or 'Taker v. HHH? If we do see Punk v. HHH at 'Mania, what would the chances be of Punk pulling out the Plunge on Hunter?

First, we have to see if Taker's shoulder will allow him to work at Mania next year.  If it does, we have to see how much he can handle.  If he can't go balls to the wall, I don't want to see him in there with HHH after what they did at Mania 2011.  Where HHH is concerned, I don't want to see him wrestle or beat up guys at all while he is the new authority figure in the company.  If they do a feud with Punk, it has to be something that leads to HHH pretty much having to wrestle him, with perhaps HHH being the heelish one in the scenario.  That would work, and Punk should be put over since he would the active wrestler.
