WHY WE WON'T SEE PUNK GOING TO TNA, FORMER STARS VISITING AT WWE, JACK EVANS AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2011-07-14 10:00:07
On the night that Vince McMahon gave his explanation for suspending CM Punk, did he do more to put over Punk than he ever has anyone before, by saying he didn't think Cena could beat Punk?'

I think you could certainly make a point for that, especially since we saw the Mr. McMahon character actually cowtow to and apologize to Punk.

With Jack Evans making his return to TNA, at least for the Destination X PPV, I was curious what your opinion is of him as a wrestler? Obviously hes a incredible but how is he otherwise– ring work, promo skills, etc? Might he ever have a shot in TNA (long term) or WWE?

I've often compared Evans to Sabu in that what he does is completely unique and different, so you are either going to get caught up in the uniqueness of his athletic ability and creativity or you aren't going to be a fan of his. I am always impressed by his aerial ability and the flexibility of his body. I don't know that WWE would be interested in him, but certainly TNA makes sense.

One. I noticed in the opening montage at Wrestlemania this year, that Alan Kalter was doing the voiceover. I’ve never known WWE to use him before. With all the cheap voice performers, why did they pay the much higher fees to use Alan Kalter? Did they want to give the video a sense of importance?

They usually spend more money on the production for Wrestlemania than they do on any other one event.

Secondly, I often see reports of former wrestlers going to WWE events to visit. When they do this, does a current WWE Superstar vouch for them? Does WWE keep a list of who is and isn’t approved to visit? Are there people who are blacklisted from visiting backstage? And do these wrestlers often sneak into the crowd to watch the show, or do they stay backstage?

It depends on the situation. WWE security is well aware of who the wrestlers are and they head up the passage backstage. Sometimes, guys will call in advance and be on a list. Sometime they will arrive with current members of the roster. I've never heard of a blacklisted former talent but I would assume there have to be some. As far as current roster talents sneaking into the crowd, I've seen it happen with lower level and mid-card talent, but not often and usually when they do it, they will go to an area blocked off for production and incognito.

Hey, I had a question that you've probably been asked a million times, what were the problems CM Punk had in TNA that caused him to not want to go back?

In the wake of then-ROH owner being caught going to meet a 14 year old boy by a NBC Philadelphia news sting, TNA demanded their signed talent be yanked from ROH. Punk, who was working regularly for ROH and believed in the company, blew off the request because he was training students at the ROH school.

There were other issues as well, including:

-TNA killing a planned hair vs. hair match between Punk and Raven in ROH after ROH had already advertised it.

-Unhappiness with how he was treated by the company, including a suspension for a legitimate fight Punk got into with Teddy Hart outside a restaurant the company utilized in Nashville.
