I have always been curious. When the wrestlers..excuse me "entertainers"..are backstage, do they call each other by their real names, or by their entertainment name? Is either way a show of respect?

Obviously, if it's Randy Orton, they call him Randy.  As for the rest of the talent, I would say that probably at least 90% of the time they go by the ring name.  Take HHH for example, everyone calls him Hunter.  Everyone calls Shawn Michaels "Shawn".  In almost every case, they go with the work name. Sometimes guys will get really offended if fans call them by their real name.  I remember Sabu ripping the hell out of someone that called him "Terry" once.

It almost seems to me as if WWE banned the words "wrestler/wrestling/wrestle" just to give their performers a route with which to be edgy. The Rock opened up Wrestlemania leading the crowd by chanting "Wrestle" multiple times, C.M Punk's promo highlighted the term "Professional Wrestler" with much emphasis on the latter portion and John Cena is talking about "Professional Wrestling" at Australian house shows. What do you think?

It's definitely become something that is used for heat but it's mainly because only a small percentage of the fans base knows that they dropped the word wrestling to begin with.  As we said at the time, it was more a marketing and organizational move than anything else.

Wouldn't it had been cool if Chris Jericho were to come out and confront CM Punk when proclaimed himself 'the best wrestler in the world'? Seeing as Chris Jericho always claimed to be the best at what he does, when he was recently active in the ring.

It would be awesome, sure.  It would mean that Jericho was back.

I frequent your site on a regular basis as a first stop for information. At this time though my finances will not allow me to become a complete member, but I would like to send a question. With regards to a few folks who have been speculating about CM Punk leaving with the title, I wondered if they perhaps were looking at re-designing the WWE Title and indeed having Punk win his match and leave with the current title, or perhaps even if he loses he may still "Steal" with the title. I wondered if this would be something that could happen, a bit like the time with Shawn and Razor and the intercontinental title. Just a thought as personally I have never liked the "Champ" belt.

I don't see it happening but I am with you.  I hate that belt.

I had a question regarding ring attire. I noticed that many wrestlers wear the short trunks (HHH, Punk, Orton). In the past, it seemed more wrestlers wore longer tights (Edge, Bret Hart) and now it seems that they are less en vogue. Several wrestlers have even changed from the long tights to short trunks or baggier pants (Jericho, HBK). Is there any specific reason for this or is it simply a factor of comfort or aesthetics?

Man, I was really tempted to say, "Jock Itch!"  I guess I just said it. Seriously, I have no idea and never asked anyone.  I would feel kind of weird doing so.
