OVERSATURATING PPVS, THE VINCE-TAKER RELATIONSHIP, TNA'S LETHAL RELEASE AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2011-06-10 10:00:00
you know if WWE is planning to do a September PPV? I believe on the initial 2011 PPV schedule, Night of Champions was scheduled for September 18. Now with Vengeance replacing Bragging Rights (Vengenance-the ppv that NOC evolved from), I just wondered if you heard anything about if it is still happening and if it is, if you heard of any themes for this one. I didn't see any mention of it on WWE's site or on Ticketmaster. I always thought a cool theme for a PPV would be something like Old School vs New School, where they mix legends and current stars in matches.

I would be shocked to see the company go four weeks without running a PPV event, but there hasn't been any word on when and where the event will be held. I would think that by July, that information will be released by the company.

just me or is it completely unnecessary to have 2 PPVs in one month, let alone within 3 weeks of each other? Extreme Rules (I miss Backlash) is a great follow-up to Wrestlemania. But I really feel this Over the Limit PPV is a waste. It seems the old adage "quality over quantity" doesn't apply to the WWE scheduling department. If Over the Limit and Bragging Rights (October 23, 3 weeks after Hell in a Cell) were scrapped, I think the overall PPV picture would look much better. More time to build storylines, less rushed scenarios, and could possibly even increase the buys per PPV. What are your thoughts on the 2011 PPV schedule?

I think anything above 12 PPVs is pushing the boundaries personally. I hate the months where there are more than one PPV because the shows are obviously not as well promoted or built strongly. So, I am pretty much on board with your opinions.

On Impact we've got Robert Roode talking on Jay Lethal's "firing" and (some of) the X-Division wrestlers (including the Bucks, back on the same page it seems) running around referencing Jay. Does this mean it's all a work and he'll be back leading the X-Division in a blaze of glory, or are they just using his leaving for anti-Hulk propaganda mileage??

I've heard nothing that leads me to believe the Lethal release was anything but legitimate. It was probably TNA's way of trying to build some realistic buzz based on how big the story of the release was after we broke it.

Hi guys love the site, two quick questions: If/ when Skip Sheffield returns does he rejoin Nexus or join Wade Barrett’s stable? Secondly, whatever happened to Kimo from NWA Anarchy? I know he was part of the Gunner and Murphy security team when they first debuted in TNA but haven’t heard about him since. Thanks for answering my questions. - Eric

There's no plan in place yet for Skip Sheffield's return yet. I haven't heard anything on Kimo.

What is the relationship between The Undertaker & Vince McMahon like backstage?

More than anyone else beyond Triple H, McMahon respects and defers to Undertaker above all others. Undertaker has earned his stripes with his service to the company and McMahon trusts his judgment.
