JR ON CHRISTIAN, THE ROCK WINS AWARD, CENA-MIZ TOMORROW AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2011-06-05 10:13:28
In addition to Steve Austin appearing on tomorrow's Raw at the Richmond Coliseum, there is an advertised (I assume dark) match of John Cena vs. The Miz.  Tough Enough's finale will also air from the building as well.

Jim Ross posted a blog yesterday on his website, covering a number of random subjects, that you can read by clicking here.  One interesting passage was: "After the vocal minority uproar when Christian lost the World Title on Smackdown, I mentioned that I thought that loss would likely position the skilled veteran from Ontario, not talking about Neil Young here, to become more relevant and valuable to WWE. Seems as if that has occurred as Christian, after this week's Smackdown broadcast, is arguably the brand's #1 villain. Of course there will be some who refuse to look at the reality of this matter and the fact that Christian has the opportunity to fill a huge gap and to be in plenty of main events at live events and on TV. Plus, Christian's verbal skills will be better utilized as an antagonist, IMO. The bottom line is about making money and this certainly positions Christian to have the potential to capitalize on such."

I agree that Christian can be a great heel and WWE has done a good job of keeping him relevant after his way-too-short title reign.  To me however the bigger issue is that WWE has two top faces in Randy Orton and John Cena.  It would have made a lot more sense to me to see if Christian could have gotten over in that role to give them another one.  Babyfaces sell tickets and PPVs and it makes sense to me to have more than two of them.  They should have seen what they had in Christian.  There was no need to get the title onto Orton that quickly.  He is already a made man and didn't need it.

Dwayne Johnson won the "Biggest Ass Kicker" at the Spike TV Guys Choice Awards.  He dedicated the honor to The US Military, who he called the true ass kickers.

Devin Cutting reporting. ... "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, "Cowboy" Bob Orton, Greg "The Hammer" Valentine and Sunny will be part of the "Clash At The Cove" event in South Bend, Indiana on August 20th, 2011.
