EDGE'S FAREWELL, THE JARRETTS BUYING WCW, IMMORTAL'S MOUTHPIECE AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2011-04-26 10:00:00

I heard somewhere that Jimmy Hart was to be in Jerry Lawler's corner at Wrestlemania. Why didn't that happen and is Jimmy under contract with WWE?

That was never actually scheduled to happen. Hulk Hogan said it was on his Twitter, but Hogan often says things with no root in reality. Hart isn't signed to a deal but does work with WWE on different projects.

Not sure if this true or not, but I read in one of the Apter mags (which is why I'm not sure if it's true or not) that the Jarrett's were trying to put together the capital to buy WCW. If they did, how do you think it would have went? Would they have had an easier time finding TV deals etc. because WCW was an already established brand? Would they have been able to keep the talent? Do you think that by using the WCW tape library to produce DVD's, online on demand etc. they would have been able to stay self sufficiency, or would they still have had to seek outside investers as they did with Panda Energy? Do you think todays wrestling world would be different, or pretty much the same except, TNA would called WCW and Immortal would called the NWO?

Jerry Jarrett did look into buying WCW but Turner Broadcasting never took his offer seriously enough to where it went into serious negotiations. Had they bought it, they would have been in for a big problem once WCW was canceled by TBS and TNT. Without the TV, they would have been in dire straits immediately as there wasn't interest by networks to bring wrestling to their stations at that point in time. They might have made money off the other assets but it would have been a huge hole to climb out of without TV.

I was previewing some old VHS tapes for my father before I transferred them to DVD, looking for home movies. I found an old edition of WCW Nitro, and Eric Bischoff was giving a promo. And I remembered why I disliked his work in TNA so much. The WCW Bischoff was snarkily funny, he had heat that wasn't X-Pac heat, he knew how to push the crowd's buttons. TNA-era Bischoff simply isn't as good. There's my question, do you think Immortal would be more successful promo-wise if they focused on in-ring workers for more promos like Bully Ray, or bring in the Pope to help push a younger talent?<./b>

They sure as hell would feel a lot fresher as I feel Bischoff, who is indeed tremendous as a talker, is just on way too much and for the most part, has the same segment every week. I'd much rather prefer Bully Ray doing the Lion's share of the talking.

Do you think KroniK would have had a decent run in the WWF if they hadn't blown their match at Unforgiven 2001 so badly?

No, they were out of place in WWE by that point as the business had evolved.

I thought when Edge retired on raw, I thought it was kind of a weak speech, so I'm glad it was a little better on SD. And when the wrestlers parted, (when HHH came out), I really thought for a moment, how classy it would be if VKM walked out! But when he gave his speech, he made a big deal about coming out from the curtain for the last time. Now, apparently it was not the last time. Do you think that is a good thing, to have him keep coming out?

It was his last time coming to the ring as a pro wrestler.
