WRESTLEMANIA 30 IN A STADIUM, DROPPING WWE COVERAGE, THE PEPSI PLUNGE

By Mike Johnson on 2011-04-17 10:00:00
I recall reading somewhere that WWE is considering to break tradition and not hold WM 30 at MSG because they want a larger crowd/venue is this true? And if so do you think that they would hold it at the New Meadowlands Stadium which seats upward of 80,000 for football and could probably seat MAYBE up to 90,000 for WM? Your Thoughts?

I suppose WWE could hold Wrestlemania there, but it would be extremely cold. I don't know that holding Mania in such an environment would create the atmosphere WWE would want and honestly, they should always go home to MSG for the anniversary.

Since PW Insider is a website that covers professional wrestling, should you guys drop coverage of WWE now that WWE is "officially" "not a wrestling company"? After all, there are plenty of other companies out there who are proud to call themselves wrestling companies (or lucha libre companies if you will). Let's face it. Just because the WWE is a large corporation doesn't mean they put out a watchable product. GE doesn't produce any decent wrestling. Microsoft doesn't produce any decent wrestling (and if they did produce wrestling, their matches would be interrupted randomly for anti-virus software to be loaded). Now, of course PW Insider is here to make money, so they should not do anything that would alienate their readership. But, it would be interesting to see what the readers would think in a poll about dropping WWE coverage.

Let's just say we will drop coverage of WWE the day we want to go out of business.

Do you know if the WWE has prohibited to CM Punk apply his “Pepsi Plunge” finisher? I have seen some videos of CM Punk indies matches and I saw that move but I do not know why he isn’t using it in WWE.

The Pepsi Plunge is a Pedigree off the ropes and obviously, they aren't going to have anyone doing Triple H's finisher on TV.

I've read here before that the heel during the match calls the spots "on the fly" in the ring. How and when did this become the norm and is it still the common practice today?

It's not the norm today but was always the norm for the business when workers were stronger in the ring. The heel would dictate the flow since it was their job to get the crowd to hate them and then feed for the babyface comeback so the crowd would react.

Before the WWE Womens title belt was changed to the current Divas belt did it have a nameplate on it featuring the name of the current Womens Champion just like what the mens belt has?

No.
