REPETITIVE WRESTLEMANIA, QUICK TITLE CHANGES AND MORE

Ok, what am I missing here. Teddy Long fired Vickie Guerrero? Even though he never hired her? After all this time, you mean to say that he had the power to fire her...but never did? WHY NOT? What am I missing here? (I think that question may be rhetorical...lol)

WWE never quite explained that, since the story had always been that Vince McMahon hired Vickie and Long didn't have the power to fire her.  However, I guess we can assume (always a dangerous thing where WWE is concerned) that since Vickie admitted to being behind the attack on Long, that Vince gave Teddy the green light to fire her from Smackdown.

2/24/11 on WWE Superstars Matt Striker said that Wrestlemania 27 will be the first time The Miz and John Cena face each other. Did he somehow forget about their match at the 2009 Bash PPV and numerous matches from RAW or does he just think he can lie to all of us?

I believe he meant that it would be the first time Cena would be challenging the Miz for the WWE Title.

Just a quick personal opinion question. Who you find to be a more entertaining performer: Eric Young or Santino Marella? Also, if Santino was for some reason released, could you see Young’s comedy fitting in well in the WWE?

It is a tough call.  I tend to like more of Santino's promos, but Young gets credit for getting over some really horrid material.  Santino gets a better reaction for his matches, so I will go with Marella, but I would love to see what Young could do with a different creative team behind him.  Young could certainly get over, if given the opportunity, as a comedic character in WWE.

I was wondering, what was behind all the quick title changes in the mid 90's in WCW and WWE? For example in WCW, Lex Luger defeated Hulk Hogan on Monday Nitro for the title only to lose it back 6 days later. WWE, Kane defeated Stone Cold only to lose the belt the next night. There were many other title changes that didn't make sense either in length or who won the title. Can you try to clarify?

It is quite simple to explain, actually.  During the Monday Night Wars, both companies had a tendency to "hotshot" angles and title changes in an attempt to grab ratings and PPV buys.  So, we would see situations like Lex Luger winning the title on Nitro, and losing it the following week at a PPV, or Kane winning the belt on a PPV, only to drop it the next night on Raw.  The feeling was that the sudden title changes made fans view every show as "must see" television.  Upsets and controversial title changes were part of the package.  In some cases, it did draw viewers, but it also ended up devaluing the importance of the belts and title changes to many.

I love WrestleMania - both the build up and the event its self. But do you think that in the last few years the event has become repetitive. I mean before even next year's event anyone could probably predict what happens, Undertaker will win, Cena will be in the main event, Randy Orton will have another pointless and boring match, the wrong person will win Money in the Bank and the event will be build up on the return of somebody (The Rock this year, Bret Hart last year etc.) WWE needs to change the event up a bit, take Cena out of the main event (every year he's been at WrestleMania he's had a title match) Give the Undertaker's opponent a realistic chance of winning and don't build the show on someone returning or retiring. What's your opinion on this, am I being stupid or is this the general belief in the wrestling world. And as I say I am a big fan of WWE and love the company.

You could certainly argue that aspects of Wrestlemania have become repetitive, but in some cases, WWE repeats themselves because it works.  Returns do draw, and Undertaker's streak has become a big part of Wrestlemania.  In fairness, I think Shawn Michaels and Triple H have been "believable" as challengers to the streak. As for Orton, there's potential for a good match with CM Punk this year, and Cena.... well, he's Cena, and he constantly is put in the title picture.  I'm not a big fan of the constant reliance on him for main events either, to be blunt.  Still, unless there is a radical drop is buys, I see WWE tending to stick to the formula that makes Wrestlemania the biggest wrestling event of the year.
