IMPACT LIVE VS. IMPACT TAPED ON THE ROAD - WHAT'S BETTER?, BURYING DEL RIO, HARDY'S TNA BELT AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2011-03-09 10:00:00
In your opinion which would help TNA Impact more. - going live every Thursday or taking Impact on the road weekly?

Without a shadow of doubt in my mind, TNA touring the company and showing the energy that comes with their live atmosphere is much more important. I love the Impact Zone as a live venue but the reality is that the company is never able to take the live experience in that venue and translate it to television. As we saw with the Fayetteville taping, the fan base was much more lively and excited to be there and that creates a better environment for performing and a better environment for fans watching at home. Part of the allure of pro wrestling at its best is to be part of the experience. Whether the TV show is live or not doesn't matter when it comes to the experience of watching it - having an audience that lives and dies and is excited to be there helps create that atmosphere. When you look like you have a product that people care about, it creates interest. If everyone is sitting on their hands, why would you care to become emotionally involved?

So if the WWE carries on the tradition of pushing and burying stars (i.e Sheamus etc). How long will it be until Del Rio gets the same treatment? I can see him winning the championship at Mania and then being buried for a fair few months.

I don't think the company does it to everyone, just those they feel need to be tested. Someone like The Miz, who walked through fire to get to where he was or Alberto Del Rio, who's had a ton of worldwide experience, likely won't follow suit where someone like Sheamus or Kofi Kingston, who are getting their first taste of stardom in WWE, might.

Why do you think that Dolph Ziggler would stay with a woman who sold him out so easily? Do you think that their staying together will hurt his character?

Based on the way Ziggler reacted Monday, my feeling is that he was using Vickie Guerrero to get signed on Raw.

Is it my imagination but is the TNA heavyweight title belt similar to the WWE Divas title belt? Same color, Similar design, etc.?

I don't think it was done by design or on purpose, but it certainly looks similar. I was told that the belt was designed by a friend of Hardy. I don't see it as something the company will use forever, but I do think they should look into licensing it for replicas as Hardy is extremely popular.

With her recent foot injury will Michelle McCool recover in time to take part in Wrestlemania later this year?

She's scheduled for a six person tag, so even if she isn't 100%, they'll be able to work around the injury.
