KEVIN NASH'S WWE STATUS, THE MIAMI WWE HALL OF FAME, IS WWE REALLY USING YOUNGER TALENT ON TOP AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2011-02-27 10:00:00
What's the deal with Kevin Nash? He came back for the Rumble and hasn't been seen since. Did he sign with the WWE for the one night or will he be used soon?

Kevin Nash announced on his Twitter account that he had signed a "five year deal" with WWE, which was likely a Legends type deal. So, he's available for them if they want to use him for any creative directions going forward.

) Everyone has been using the term "dirt sheet" so much lately that I get the impression that Vince (or some other high up figure) has been using the term and they are just parroting the term. Did something happen recently that put a bug up someone's butt about "dirt sheets"? Why the sudden OVER use of the term when referring to websites?

I think it's just someone's buzz word of the moment and that someone is living in the past.

People are constantly (this site somewhat included) getting on TNA and WWE for using older talent and not pushing the younger guys to make a strong future for themselves. Now that Wrestlemania is shaping up people are getting more and more excited, but look at the billing! HHH (out almost a year), Undertaker (out almost a year), possible Shawn involvement (out for a year), The Rock (out 7 years), rumored Big Show vs. Nash (out for over a year), Jerry Lawler (no longer an "active" wrestler for WWE) and to a lesser extent Cena (another superman holds the title up at the end of mania year) and Edge (coming to the end of his full-time run). That is a lot of "older" guys when we have nothing for Shamus, John Morrison, Kofi, Daniel Bryan, Nexus, Corre, R-truth, Christian, Cody, Ted, Dolph, Drew, or Swagger. I know the build is just starting, but how can you push any of these guys as future talent when you don't give any kind of build? Say they do add them in the coming weeks, they are still going to be pushed behind the older guys and have their stories shoe-horned in after they continue to build up the vets on the card. Wrestlemania looks good, but it can't be denied that it also looks a lot like the same old song and dance. Your thoughts?

I think the difference is that many of the older talents have been used to build the new breed of names, such as Jerry Lawler being used to get Miz over to a greater degree or Triple H being used to build Sheamus, etc. There's a fine line between using too many older names as the expense of the up and coming stars who will need to carry the business over the next decade, but I feel WWE does a great job of straddling it while preparing names like Bryan, Kofi and Morrison so they are 'on deck' so to speak with the audience. TNA does not do anywhere near as well a job with that, partially because their booking directions change so often.

I know it is really early, but unless something major happens the Rock being inducted into the Hall of Fame in Miami next year is a lock right? Who else are important Florida figures to induction in Miami next year? You have an all Florida class, who do you put in a why?

Dwayne Johnson is not a lock for Miami. It's far too soon as if he's going to be doing a film, that is going to take precedence over anything WWE related. As far as who had big runs in Florida that I would put in - Barry Windham, Kevin Sullivan, JJ Dillon, Oliver Humperdink and Ron Bass come to mind off the top of my head.

Do any of you collect wrestling memorabilia? What is your favorite wrestling related item that you own to this day? Who has the coolest piece of wrestling history on the site?

I wouldn't say any of us collect memorabilia, but we've probably all acquired things over the years. My personal favorite pieces that I have framed in my office are a Broadway poster from the wrestling play "The Teaneck Tanzai", which ran for all of one official performance with Debbie Harry and Andy Kaufman as the leads as well as a pair of Brian Pillman tights that he wore during the Hollywood Blondesera that a close friend gave me as a gift as few years after he bought them at a Pillman Memorial Show. I've also been lucky enough to acquire some of the rare 1 in 100 WWE action figures that Jakks Pacific gave out to media at Toy Fair, my favorite of which is the one and only bloody Terry Funk figure ever produced. There are also a few other pieces but those are the three that I personally like the most.
