OVW WORKING WITH TNA, HAKU IN WWE HALL OF FAME,WHY ANNOUNCERS WATCH MONITORS EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE RINGSIDE AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2011-02-20 10:00:00

I know that WWE is no longer affiliated with OVW (Ohio Vally Wrestling). Does TNA have a relationship with them? If not are there plans involving TNA and OVW down the road?

TNA and OVW have never had an official relationship and considering Jim Cornette's feelings towards the company these days, I don't see that happening anytime in the near or far flung future.

I read where former TNA Knockout Lacey Von Erich had signed with Ring of Honor? Is this true?

No truth to this in any form.

During the Michelle McCool-Kelly Kelly match on Smackdown I noticed that Michael Cole and friends were watching the matches via a monitor even though their desk was destroyed. They were looking down at the screens while the match was going on. All three were just sitting there within a few feet from the ring. Why didn't they commentate by watching the action without the use of TV monitors? The action was right in front of their eyes. They looked rather stupid doing it. Opinion?

No they don't look stupid at all. Their jobs as announcers is to watch and call the show as it appears to the eyes of those watching on television, so by having the announcers watching what is being broadcast, they prevent the chances of calling a spot or moment that doesn't actually appear on television.

When it comes to discussions about agile big men in professional wrestling, it seems two guys who I've always enjoyed watching are hardly ever mentioned, the Barbarian and Haku/Meng. I know the Barbarian never held a WWF title, but do you think these two would ever find their way into the WWE Hall of Fame?

I can see Haku going in one day absolutely. The Barbarian as a singles performer might be more of a stretch, but as part of an induction of the Powers of Pain, I like it.

Question. I just finished watching "Guest Booker with Dutch Mantel". At one point during the DVD Dutch said that when he was booking IWA in Puerto Rico during 2001-2003, he was drawing 16-17.0 ratings, with 55 shares...weekly. Is this true? Those are some pretty gigantic numbers.

100% true. During that time period, the promotion was extremely hot in Puerto Rico.
