FOLEY AND MONTREAL, THE MATCH YOU WON'T SEE ON THE WWE'S NITRO DVD, NEXUS VS. THE CORRE: BATTLE OF THE BANDS AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2011-02-01 10:00:00
After the recent tweet by Diamond Dallas Page about the "Best of Nitro" DVD, I began thinking about my favorite matches from Nitro. The first one that came to mind was the Bret Hart vs. Chris Benoit match that was dedicated to the memory of Owen. Do you think WWE will be willing to include that match in the set?

While I believe that was the best match in the history of WCW Nitro from an in-ring standpoint, I don't see them releasing it on DVD. The rule on Benoit matches is that if they have to release one of his matches as part of a complete event, that is OK. Utilizing him in a compilation is off limits. While it's impossible to tell the true story of pro wrestling without including Chris Benoit, I doubt they will change their stance on this, nor do I blame WWE for that decision.

After the Divas title match on Raw LayCool confronted Divas champion Nattie Neidhart. They referred to her so called weight problem. From Mickie James to Nattie Neidhart. Is this going to be another weight issue storyline??

I hope it's not going to be another weight storyline. I don't know what warped world would think Natalya isn't in awesome shape.

By the way. I noticed the Divas championship match lasted all but four or so minutes. For a title match that was rather short. What is the shortest title match involving male wrestlers.

The shortest match I can think of was Diesel beating Bob Backlund for the WWF title in eight seconds.

Do you ever get the strong feeling that when you watch either The Core or Nexus that all of a sudden you expect one of the teams to start singing? Maybe a chorus of Over the Boardwalk? My Girl perhaps?

It is my fondest desire that one day, they all break out "If You Only Knew" live on Raw.

If Mick Foley had as big a problem with the screwjob as he claimed to have in his book, including almost quitting, how come a year later, at the end of Survivor series 98, he was involved in mocking the incident? Was he forced into this, or did he just not care anymore? I've always held that against him...

Mick noted in his book that after talking to Jim Ross and realizing that in the end, Bret Hart was going to walk away making millions in WCW, he couldn't sit himself out and starve based on principle. A year later, WWF business was so hot, I doubt anyone was worried about anything but making more money and honestly, it was the right finish to kickstart the double turn of Foley and The Rock.
