DRUG CULTURE OF WWE COVERED BY MAJOR NEWSPAPER, HEAD OF WWE WELLNESS EXPLAINS SOMAS BEING ADDED TO BANNED SUBSTANCE LIST AND MORE

By Steven Fernandes on 2010-10-14 21:00:57
The Hartford Courant have a huge article on substance abuse in wrestling causing problems for Linda McMahon's U.S. Senate run.

The piece features comments from WWE Medical Doctor Joseph Maroon saying that no talent are on steroids now as they know the punishment for being caught. He also gave the following comments for the recent banning of Somas in the wellness policy:

"We've become aware that [it] was becoming a very addictive type of drug. When combined with codeine, it can have the potency of heroin. It's become nationally a significantly abused drug — 2.7 million American males and females have abused Soma — and it has significant addictive potential. Because some of the talent have used it in the past, we've decided there are other substitute drugs that [are] less addictive that are available."

The piece also has comments from MVP talking about the WWE Wellness Policy saving his life, and Natalya Neidhart talking about how WWE paid for Jim Neidhart to go to rehab twice.
